To leave permanent job for a fixed term?

I work in the NHS, in a permanent admin role for 14 hours per week. I am looking for more hours, but not full time.

I've been offered a job for 24 hours per week, but it's only fixed term for 12 months, still in the same hospital.

I think it's better than nothing, it's more money for the time being and I have 12 months to find something permanent. Internal jobs come up relatively often.

Is it too risky? Plain stupid?

I did, and have no regrets.

3 months, no. 12 months, yes, 100%.

Is it with the NHS too or a different employer? If it’s the same can you ask for a secondment instead?

I would, I don't think it's that risky. Plenty of people only stay in jobs that long anyway. Best of luck.
