Posting here for traffic

12 years ago I had Annabel Karmel's complete baby and toddler recipe book. There was a chicken casserole recipe in it which I can't find anywhere. Does anybody have it?

It called for chicken wings or drumsticks I think which you had to roast first, remove the meat, then boil the bones and make a stick for the sauce. I think there may have been fresh thyme in it too.

It was rather labour intensive but it was delicious and my older DD has just asked for it while we were reminiscing on her younger brother's baby weaning days!

Thanks in advance!

It could be one of these? Failing that you could see if there's an copy of the book for sale on Amazon/Ebay

Thanks. That's the first thing I did and I couldn't find it!

I think I do have the book somewhere. Will have a look.

Nikori · 23/09/2020 12:40

I found it. There are loads of chicken recipes though. I'll post the one for chicken stock and then a casserole.

Nikori · 23/09/2020 12:42

This is the chicken stock.

Here’s the chicken casserole. Is it right?

Sorry it came out sideways. If it's the wrong one, let me know and I can look again.

MiniCooperLover · 23/09/2020 12:51

I used to love the kids Korma! Made it all the time for me and DH 😊

GreenPlum · 23/09/2020 12:51

Thank you so much for doing that. I'm pretty sure the stock making was roped into the same recipe method though. And it was with chicken on the bone, not breast. Would you mind looking again? You're a star!

Is it this book? How about this recipe?

Sorry that’s also a breast recipe. Maybe a different book?

GreenPlum · 23/09/2020 13:17

I think that was the title but I'm not sure what edition it was. I probably bought it around June/July 2008 when he was 6mths old.

I don't think anything on the index fits. Thank you so much for trying!

No problem. I’m actually inspired to try some of the recipes. My PFB was also born in 2008, but the book was second hand. I had a flick through but all the chicken recipes I saw were breast and they are all really simple. Hope you find it!!

GreenPlum · 23/09/2020 13:28

Thank you! Thanks so much for taking the time to help!

I've just had a look on eBay and think I found an edition where I recognise the cover. It was published in 2008 so would make sense that I bought the most recent edition. I've bought it. I hope it's as yummy as we remember!

i had a copy of this book in 1998 and it had the most amazing recipe in it for marble cake. the newer ones dont have it in, i suppose its not healthy enough!! ive been searching the charity shop copies for years!!

BecauseOfTheRain · 23/09/2020 15:38

I've just checked an old copy that I was given when my daughter was born and it is dated '1995,2001'. Ive never posted a picture before, but will try as I think this is the recipe you mean

BecauseOfTheRain · 23/09/2020 15:39

Hope this works!

@BecauseOfTheRain could you please check for the marble cake recipe pretty please??

BecauseOfTheRain · 23/09/2020 16:05

I did look at the Cake section of the index and couldn't see a marble cake - could it have been called something else and can you remember any details?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 23/09/2020 16:08

Just looking at step 1 and it says 'rinse the chicken'. I don't think that would be on there nowadays.

GreenPlum · 23/09/2020 17:47

Yes! I think that might be it 😁 Maybe I was getting confused with the stock. The thyme is right!
Thank you so much!

thank you for looking. it was chocolate and vanilla and it had sour cream in it. you made the 2 mixes separately and then marbled them together before baking
