What mattresses to invest in for 6 and 10yo dc?

Both my dc have pretty cheap mattresses that came with their cabin beds about 3 years ago. My eldest (and therefore heavier) complains that the mattress is uncomfortable now and it's probably about time that we bought something better for both of them. I have absolutely no idea where to start though!

Has anyone got any recommendations or tips of good buys or what to look for? And what's a reasonable amount to spend, we really don't want to spend too much as money is tight right now!

We got ours from IKEA. You can get pocket spring mattresses cheaper than other places. They have a good range of hardness as well.

Just bought a cotbed mattress from them. Had been waiting for weeks for a spring one from JL!

We got our DDs from Bensons for Beds.

It was about £350 and is a standard single, and about 7” in depth.

It’s really bloody comfy and I’d happily sleep on it.

It’s not a kids mattress, the reasoning being that I wouldn’t want to sleep on something uncomfortable.

Are they still in the cabin beds? You’ll just need to be careful of the thickness for safety, there will be a “not above this line” sticker somewhere.
We put silent night mattresses on the bunk beds, sturdier than the cheapy ones and come with an 8 year (I think?) guarantee.

Just had a quick measure, 15cm deep.

I got a hamarvik from Ikea for my 6 yr old and it's brilliant £99
