To be irritated by people who don’t read all the OP’s posts?

If a thread is hundreds of posts long then I get that people might not want to read through all of them. But we now have the ability to read all the OP’s posts, so it is constantly irritating when someone posts a thread with several updates, and posters reply to the OP only

Irritation of mine only, but bloody hell it gets on my nerves. Grin

YANBU. This really irritates me too. Especially as there is now a function to make reading all OP's posts super easy.

It's not even as though they might have cross posted when they come in with a comment on p8 of a thread!

TheresNothingIWantMore · 22/09/2020 13:25

I remember a thread called something like "can cats stand" - it was clear from the replies that most people had just read the title and posted without reading the first post, let alone any replies!

I'm with FTMF30, it was maybe understandable when you had to scroll for ages to find all the OPs post, but with the new function it's just laziness!

PuppyMonkey · 22/09/2020 13:27

It’s almost as irritating as when people post Cancel the Cheque in response to someone who does this Grin

My gripe is when the op explains something and a poster asks questions when the op has already explained, thus showing that the poster hasn't fully read the post.
Example. I have two children aged 4 and 6.
Poster asks how old the kids are or even if the op has any kids.

Lexilooo · 22/09/2020 14:25

You don't have full functionality on the app though, and sometimes it is very easy to think you have read the full thread when in fact a page (or several) hadn't loaded.

SideAfries · 22/09/2020 14:27

How do you see only OPs replies?!

SideAfries · 22/09/2020 14:27

Oh probably ‘see ops posts, see all’ HmmGrin

I never knew!

Josvie · 22/09/2020 14:35

That function isn't available on the app - you have to manually scroll down the whole thread and not everyone has the time/patience to do so.

That's me that is, I have the attention span of a hamster and can't be bothered to read the entire thread.

Not true, you can filter posts by OP on the app. Just click the little funnel looking thing at the top of the page.

I completely agree. At best it’s lazy; at worst it’s massively arrogant. It’s essentially saying ‘I’m far too busy and important to read everyone else’s comments, but YOU should read MINE because what I have to say is way more important than anything the mere plebs have trotted out in response’. They claim it takes too long to read pages and pages of comments - so why add to them?

That function isn't available on the app - you have to manually scroll down the whole thread and not everyone has the time/patience to do so.

But they do have the time to reply, even though their response has already been made seven times?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 22/09/2020 15:09

What a wanky little biscuit @vodkaredbullgirl!

SittingontheSidelines · 22/09/2020 15:14

@MarshmallowsOnToast
Who knew? Thank you.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/09/2020 15:17

Sorry didnt read the post properly lol

Letsgetbizzy · 22/09/2020 15:18

Potatoes are the best in my opinion...

Sparklesocks · 22/09/2020 15:20

I know what you mean, sometimes the thread goes like this:

OP: ‘I did THING, but now I feel a bit bad about THING, AIBU?’

30 posts from others and a couple of measures OP updates with context later..

OP: ‘Thanks all, you’ve really given me some perspective about this, I now realise I was probably a bit hasty and shouldn’t have done THING but my judgement was clouded by how difficult things are at the moment. Thanks for your support and advice’.

Jenny Come Lately, replying to the first post: ‘You did THING?? What the hell is wrong with you?? Why would you do such a thing?? Yabvvvvvu!! Get some perspective you daft cow!!’

Wibblypiggly · 22/09/2020 17:09

This is not a real problem though. I wouldn’t waste your energy letting it get in your nerves.
