Have I done the right thing

My dad has been in a traffic accident and he has got a huge lump on his head and even the ambulance said he needs to get checked over. He refused to go into hospital due to covid pandemic which has frightened the life out of him but I persuaded him to go in and get checked over in case he needs treatment, but now I am panicking thinking have I just put him at risk. He is over 70, so I feel like I may regret it now. He said they're all wearing PPE. Please tell me I've done the right thing haven't I?

Yes you've done the right thing. Head injuries should be checked. they will be taking all the necessary precautions. Hope he feels better soon.

You've done the right thing.

Ditto

TreadLightly3 · 21/09/2020 20:46

Yes you did the right thing. You can’t be too careful with head injuries. Wishing your dad gets discharged soon Flowers

bloodywhitecat · 21/09/2020 20:47

Yes you have. Hospitals are very COVID aware and he needs to get his head injury checked out.

SmellsLikeFeet · 21/09/2020 20:48

You've done the right thing. Hospitals are probably more clean now than they've ever been. He really needed to go for a head injury
Hope he is OK

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 21/09/2020 20:48

The risk of his head injury being serious is infinitely greater than his risk of contracting covid with all the restrictions and precautions in place at the hospital.

Hope your dad is ok Flowers

You've done exactly the right thing. Hes in the right place now.

yarncakes · 21/09/2020 20:48

I'm just feeling so bad I'm scared if anything happens covid wise then I'm going to be completely crucified for it. I think it is my stupid anxiety playing up again.

You have absolutely done the right thing. I would do exactly the same.
I hope your Dad is well xx

MJMG2015 · 21/09/2020 20:51

You've done the right thing 🌷

Hope he gets the all clear & sent home soon x

Thorilicious · 21/09/2020 20:52

You've done the right thing.
And don't forget, with anxiety, if he hadn't gone in, your anxiety would be making you worried about the head injury.
Hope he's ok

yarncakes · 21/09/2020 22:09

Thank you all for your well wishes x

Thank god he did listen because they have discovered a bleed on the brain from the accident. They said it is only small but I'm not sure whether that can develop into something major or heal by itself? I feel so sad I can't even be there at all. I'm in such a mess.

Good news, a step in the right direction

StillCoughingandLaughing · 27/09/2020 19:32

The NHS launched a big campaign during the full lockdown telling people not to avoid A&E if they really needed it. Your dad obviously did. You might have had to push him, but I’d say you’ve been vindicated now.
