Coil fitting during period. OK? More painful?

Sorry for posting in AIBU. Genuinely can't change it on my phone. Every time I try to it crashes the app.

Secondly, has anyone had the coil fitted during their period? I'll be on day 2 of my period tomorrow, so quite heavy. The clinic is closed so I can't call them and ask. Its first thing tomorrow morning. I'm very nervous, and nobody has been down there since I was sexually assaulted. This is just adding further to my anxieties!

Hi OP, sorry about the assault I can imagine having an intimate procedure must be extremely awful for you, please let them know if you feel able too, there are things We can do to make as comfortable as possible, in terms of the bleeding, it really depends on the flow of blood, if it’s very heavy it can make viewing the cervix more difficult and even can cause the coil to come out with flow, It depends what coil as well, ring them when you Can but they may reschedule

It can be easier to fit during period as cervix is softer, clinicians fit them loads at this time. Make sure you have a bite to eat and take paracetamol or ibuprofen if you can take it an hr before the procedure.

I had mine fitted when I was on my period. I rang in advance and she said she preferred it that was as it was easier.

I had mine done towards the end of my period and they said it was actually a good thing. It felt a bit weird but it wasn't too bad. The nurse was asking questions about me and I was just nattering on about myself and was so distracted I was surprised when the doctor said it was done. Grin It wasn't as bad as I thought at all. Good luck!
