TikTok telling kids to get a Nazi tattoo

My DD showed me a video of TikTok with millions of likes telling our kids to tattoo a Z with a dash through it on themselves with sewing needle and pen ink 🤮 which has a strong resembles to a anti-Semitic symbol from WW2! check your kids and make sure they don't get any nasty infection.

I can't abide TikTok and I have no idea why it's still allowed to run as a platform.

I saw an advert last night on Tv for it, all about keeping people connected & how fun it is etc. Never mind the story the other week about the live suicide being streamed all over it Hmm

SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/09/2020 14:06

Depends. Z vertically with dash in a middle is just... Z🤷🏻 How it's written in for example my native language.

Horizontal version is questionable, but there is a difference in design anyway.

And what pp said

Igotthemheavyboobs · 20/09/2020 14:07

Why is your DD on tiktok?

Also it stands for generation Z, it is not the nazi symbol. A quick Google answered that.

People should not tattoo at home with a needle and ink

CoffeeAndKids · 20/09/2020 14:19

it is supposed to be a symbol for gen z, but search up wolfs-angel on google. similar design

Lots of things have similar design... Hate signs are usually based on something normal

Z is often written with the dash.

TikTok telling kids to get a Nazi tattoo

No it isn’t, a poster on there is. Why have you let your child use a well known platform for outrageous videos? Do you watch them before she does to approve the material?

HugeAckmansWife · 20/09/2020 15:34

The swastika is /was also a symbol of the Hindu religion.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 20/09/2020 15:36

It's not tik tok, it's one person.

Any child who would see something like that and replicate it shouldn't be online unsupervised anyway.

The parenting needs to start before they do this shit, not afterwards.

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 20/09/2020 15:45

I write a capital Z with a bar across to distinguish it from 2. Likewise 0 has a diagonal bar to distinguish it from O. I was a signaller in the army.
A pp said the swastika is a Hindu symbol, which it is. The Nazis reversed the direction of its rotation in their version.

Kanaloa · 20/09/2020 15:47

I would say if a child is young enough to be influenced into tattooing themselves at home with sewing needles and ink, they probably shouldn’t be on the internet unsupervised.

i agree with you

Nothing to do with a swastika - the Z with the bar does not look anything like it. It does look like an upright Wolfsangel (German for wolf hook?), which has been used (among other things) as a heraldic device and later as the emblem of a German Panzerdivision and symbol for different Nazi and Neonazi organisations. It is banned in Germany in the latter context. So having this symbol as a tattoo would be a more than questionable choice.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/09/2020 16:30

It's a normal Z. That's how Z looks like written as a standard in many places. 🙄
