Picky Bits

tillytoodles1 · 19/09/2020 13:03

A new business has appeared on my Facebook page delivering afternoon tea and sandwich platters. It's called Picky Bits. Aibu to want to block them just because of the name?

YANBU.

Does anyone actually make money from these “businesses”? I can’t imagine how, once delivery and hours worked are accounted for.

yecannyshoveyergranny · 19/09/2020 13:04

Yanbu

funnylittlefloozie · 19/09/2020 13:05

You "loathe it so much" you came onto Mumsnet to drive traffic to your page?

yecannyshoveyergranny · 19/09/2020 13:06

I saw a Facebook business by someone who delivers boxes of sweets and desserts. But they are literally just boxes of opened packets of candy thrown over the top of cakes and donuts, bought ones like Krispy Kremes.

funnylittlefloozie · 19/09/2020 13:07

On the off chance that you're NOT the business owner trying to drive traffic... completely and utterly reasonable to block. Its twee and horrible.

yecannyshoveyergranny · 19/09/2020 13:08

Although I just looked at Picky Bits page and their platters look pretty good tbh. Mmm salami

Yanbu about the name though

MrsMariaReynolds · 19/09/2020 13:09

It's not a great business name, to be honest. But they may have amazing food. Blocking seems a bit silly and childish.

Sunnydaysstillhere · 19/09/2020 13:10

My ds declared he wanted afternoon tea for his 6th birthday...
But without the sandwiches or scones!!

Tried explaining pizza was never an afternoon tea ingredient...

TweetUsOnFacebook · 19/09/2020 13:10

If it's the Epsom one the food looks amazing

tillytoodles1 · 19/09/2020 13:10

funnylittlefloozie That's the last name I'd call my businessGrin

tillytoodles1 · 19/09/2020 13:12

It's not the Epsom one. I can't believe that two people could call a business such an annoying name.

Half of these things look shite, but these look good.

REDLIPSTICKANDNAILS · 19/09/2020 13:13

Just looked at the page and their stuff looks really well done. Might not be the best name but stuff looks very good.

My DS has had scones for his birthday lunch every year for about 8 years. Usually followed by pizza for dinner.

REDLIPSTICKANDNAILS · 19/09/2020 13:14

It's the Epsom one I looked at.

MyTwoLeftFeet · 19/09/2020 13:17

I'm confused about what's wrong with the name. Isn't that what people call it when they do a meal that's just bits and pieces. I don't say it myself but my sil often says they're having a 'picky bits' dinner tonight. I really can't understand how you'd have a strong reaction to it either way. Is there some reference in the name I'm missing or are you just odd?

LadyLindaT · 19/09/2020 13:21

Are "picky bits" the cousin of "something eggy on a tray"?

Bluntness100 · 19/09/2020 13:24

Picky bits seems fine to me. Can’t understand how any one could get all worked up about it.

Mamette · 19/09/2020 13:25

Picky bits are what happens when a scab is coming off, so no thanks.

PablosHoney · 19/09/2020 13:29

It’s nauseating

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 19/09/2020 13:30

"Picky Bits" makes me think of scabs, for some reason. Or maybe boils. Nothing I'd want to eat, anyway.

NancyPickford · 19/09/2020 13:38

"Something eggy on a tray!" - my mother used to say, if someone was feeling a bit better after being unwell that they were "sitting up, and taking an egg".

Cake then!

katie43210 · 19/09/2020 13:40

YANBU... Infact the title of your thread is making me want to hide it.

Lockheart · 19/09/2020 13:41

"Picky bits" is IMO the equivalent of "veggies", "chocs", "sweeties", "toms" (tomatoes), and all others of that ilk.

Twee shite and absolutely awful words.
