Sorry posting for traffic. Waiting in carpark of A&E as not allowed in . DD (24) has just texted diagnosis and treatment. Shes freaking out a little as she hates needles. Without seeming selfish we have booked into v posh hotel tonight for wedding anniversary. Do we need to change plans? Her bf is coming up for the weekend should be here 4 ish. No idea what to do. There is no one to ask as not allowed.

When I was hospitalised with suspected sepsis from pyelonephritis, I was on IV ABs for about 48hrs (maybe 72? I was pretty ill so my memory is a bit hazy) and that was only as I was being sick so couldn't have kept tablets down. Then a weeks course of tablets after that.

awsomer · 19/09/2020 11:19

Your DD is allowed to ask?

KingaRoo · 19/09/2020 11:20

I had IV ABs for 73 hours.

If she is 24 I doubt they would allow anyone to be with her anyway so I don't think you need to change plans.

KingaRoo · 19/09/2020 11:20

72 hrs! 73 would be a bit random...

Sometimes they do one day of iv and then home

She can go home and have hospitals at home team do it on a pic line/ might let her home with canula

Ive had 7 days of IV 3 times when I had sepsis from a kidney infection

Thank you everyone. Apparently her bloods are back are it is not as serious as first thought so just oral abs. Romantic weekend back on for us but not for her and bf.

No pint in cancelling your weekend as visitors currently aren't allowed due to Covid.
