To think this song is fucking horrid???

DP apparently thinks I'm a prude because I'm banging on about it.

And all the people posting videos copying it is making me 🤢

I mean, A lot of the world (men) already thinks of women as just tits and a vagina, this shit does not help.

He thinks I'm a prude
I think I'm a grown woman and we're not into that shit

What do you think Grin

I like it. 🤷‍♀️

namedchange112 · 19/09/2020 13:41

Not just you OP. It my experience the ones who talk about it the most are the ones not doing it; I suspect Cardi is sex-starved.

shartsi · 19/09/2020 13:44

YANBU. It is nauseating

TheNewLook · 19/09/2020 13:50

It’s disgusting. I can’t imagine how hard people have to think to come up with such revolting lyrics. Is it how she talks in her daily life? She has a daughter.

And before you say it, it’s equally grim to hear men sing vulgar songs about women’s body parts too. A woman demeaning and debasing herself in this way doesn’t make it any less offensive to all women. It is not empowering. It’s playing right into the hands of the misogynists who control pop music and want girls and women to sell their sexuality not their music.

I saw a clip of Cardi B talking about her song. I can’t repeat what she said but it was as bad as the song. What goes wrong in a girl’s life to make her think and talk this way about her body?

AndNowItsHappeningInMine · 19/09/2020 14:00

It's disgusting

MostTacticalNameChange · 19/09/2020 14:56

It's an ode to prostitution (lyrics) and male gaze porn (video).

Not empowering.

One Minute Man by Missy is empowering filth if it's filth you're after.

lboogy · 19/09/2020 15:13

I think you need to unclench. Don't listen if you don't like it.

Having said that I'm shocked people play it in front of their kids - especially pre school or young enough to not know how to queue it on Spotify.

The song is not some feminist liberation song. It's a sing that sexualises women for the male gaze.

All that being said, I enjoy the song for just being a song and don't overthink it

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 19/09/2020 15:22

Men talk about their dicks all the time in music.

They don't generally talk about gagging/being choked when giving oral or getting people to spit in their mouths though, nor about fucking people to get them to pay for things like cars and college tuition. They might sing those things about women doing it to them (which I'd also have issues with), but they aren't offering to get on their knees and subject themselves to it.

Sing about getting wet, making someone cum in seconds, or having them crawl after your magical pussy as much as you want, I wouldn't care about that tbh providing it was appropriately censored during the day. It's the validation of the porn tropes which are damaging to women and girls that I have an issue with.

After all, it can't be that bad or edgy if they're singing about it in a number one song can it? Don't be a prude, just try it. Everyone's doing it, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion like it...

TheNewLook · 19/09/2020 15:44

This. So depressing to hear women say this stuff is somehow empowering. I cringe to think of young boys listening to these lyrics and thinking girls are like this and want this.

thegreenlight · 19/09/2020 15:47

I know of a 7 year old girl who has filmed herself dancing to this on Tik tok. Complete with lying down gyrating and banging her fist on the floor Angry. It’s the accessibility of it. If it was a film with similar suggestions it would be an 18 and very difficult to access. Something needs to be done about hyper-sexualised music being listened to and danced by young children (usually girls, boys don’t seem too bothered!)

I mean that’s the fault of the parents. 7 year olds have no need to be on Tik Tok.

happythankyoumoreplease · 19/09/2020 16:45

You don't like it don't listen to it. But don't tell other women that they're 'doing feminism wrong'.

Totally agree with this
It kills me a little inside to think how worse it will most likely get by the time my daughters a woman.

Edel2019 · 19/09/2020 17:45

It's an absolute tune.

But my GOD, it is not in any way empowering

motherofdxughters · 19/09/2020 17:46

It's a banger.

LuckyAmy1986 · 19/09/2020 18:36

@MostTacticalNameChange I just listened to that this morning! Love Missy

And her parents just allowed that...?
TheNewLook · 19/09/2020 19:31

don't tell other women that they're 'doing feminism wrong'

Why?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 19/09/2020 19:38

I'm not really into hip hop but to me the song has no hooks or anything really interesting about it. Its really bland musically I honestly dont get the hype.

aToadOnTheWhole · 19/09/2020 19:41

I don't think it's that good. I was a stripper and it's a fairly solid strip club song though.

It's not new, "my neck, my back" by Khia, Lil Kim's 'How many licks?" etc.

Edel2019 · 19/09/2020 19:55

Ok...out of allllll of the opinions here, the one that has got me lost wound up is that, it's BLAND?!!! Listen to it again. Grand if you don't like it, I understand, but it certainly is not bland - the rhythm ain't, the lyrics ain't.....nothing is bland about that song

Did you report the tic tok video? Children under 13 aren’t meant to be on it. Or did you talk to the parents? As it’s down to them not Cardi B when it comes to what the child can access.
LadyofTheManners · 19/09/2020 20:12

It's bloody awful
I want girls to aspire to be more than tits and "waps"
I thought with all the marching and activism we were finally getting somewhere and then those two release that.
It's just awful. It's crude and vulgar and sorry she has the musical talent of the bucket and mop she screeches about.

StoneofDestiny · 19/09/2020 20:50

Had to look up who and what you were all talking about.
Read the lyrics - absolutely horrendous. Gutter garbage of a limited mind.

Terralee · 19/09/2020 21:07

Just listened to WAP on Spotify for the first time and actually.... it's not bad...

But I would be very embarrassed to listen to it in front of my 72 yr old dad for example!

Agree with PP that Missy is the best at this kind of rap.
