I know iabu to ask here, but traffic and all that. Tell me, where do you get your softer than cloud towels from? DH and I are after some bath time luxury.

Can't believe all the crispy towel lovers here!? Absolutely not! I exfoliate half to death in the shower, I want to be caressed back to life when I get out of it! This is AIBU so I may have to accept I'm being unreasonable, but if I'm wrong I don't wanna be right!

Wilco! We went to an Airbnb that didn’t gave towels, went to the local Wilco, I love my cheap fluffy towel much more than my posh ones

Crispy all the way. I need them to practically crunch when I fold them 😂

DramaAlpaca · 18/09/2020 23:27

I adore a crispy towel, the crispier the better.

cctvrec · 18/09/2020 23:27

A lovely old couple bought DH and I a load of white fluffy towels when we had DD 14 years ago. The towels were wonderful. Soft, fluffy and bright white. I adored them.
They started getting tatty after 10 years and I FINALLY found the exact same brand to replace them two years ago.

100% Egyptian cotton, 600gsm Luxor towels. www.linenslimited.com/linens-limited-luxor-100-egyptian-cotton-4-piece-guest-towel-set-white

I have a cupboard full now and they're like a piece of heaven. As long as they make these I'll never buy different ones. DSis asked what I did with my towels to make them so nice. They must be good if they're a topic for discussion.

I am aghast!!!! I never knew crispy towel lovers existed!!!! I too am always looking for a soft huggable towel!

I'm always slightly embarrassed whenever I put out one of my crispy towels for a guest, but who knows - they may have been a secret fan!!!

Brilliant - you learn something new every day GrinGrinGrin

@cctvrec

How do you was them to keep them nice ?

Softener/ line dry/ tumble?

We need to know.

And what do you do with the old tatty ones? I'd love new ones but not quite sure what to do with old ones !

CrotchetyQuaver · 19/09/2020 09:21

I just buy M&S ones, always their bath sheet, the bath towels too small nothing to do with me being fat
Hot wash every time - 50/60 degrees.

I use washing powder not liquid
No fabric conditioner
Tumble dry
I think I have lovely towels. The band bit doesn't shrink on the M&S ones, I like them to stay straight and not go out of shape.

DelilahfromDevon · 19/09/2020 09:23

White Company. And always tumble dry them. I don’t use the tumble dryer for anything other than towels for precisely that reason.

MrsMime · 19/09/2020 09:23

Asda towels are very soft.

Iwonder08 · 19/09/2020 09:23

Sheridan is the best towel brand. They are not cheap but quite often come on sale.

KizzyWayfarer · 19/09/2020 09:31

Bamboo towels! Mine are 70% bamboo, 30% cotton, and they are soft AND absorbent

Lockdownseperation · 19/09/2020 09:32

Yabu. Really soft towels don’t dry you.

Hardbackwriter · 19/09/2020 09:35

This thread is such an eye-opener - I genuinely had no idea that anyone liked crispy towels, I just thought it was one of those unfortunate things that happened sometimes. Are there also people who like shiny loo paper?!

SuzieQQQ · 19/09/2020 09:37

But soft towels don’t dry! Give me a scratchy cotton towel anyday

EggyPegg · 19/09/2020 09:42

This is an ongoing debate between my dad and I. He advocates line dried, crispy towels. I'm all about tumble dried soft towels. He also gives the argument of soft towels not absorbing water. Mine seem wet enough to hang up to dry after I've used them so I maintain its nonsense. Fortunately we don't live together so it's a moot point apart from visits, but it still results in a debate if it comes up.

We got our huge bath sheets from Dunelm.

I now want to look into.bamboo towels though @KizzyWayfarer. I was given a pair of bamboo socks for Christmas once and was converted.

Pinnacular · 19/09/2020 09:44

Oh, this wonderfully vindicating thread! I've always preferred a rough thin towel but thought I was just very weird. I also prefer to use a hand towel after a bath/shower rather than a massive bath sheet. Can't get my head around using something so big that takes up so much space in the bathroom / washing machine.

I've been looking at hammam towels for a while too. Even less bulk. But was worried about them being too soft Grin

ohffs66 · 19/09/2020 09:45

I used to have a friend who always brought a towel with her when she came to stay because mine weren't crispy enough. I always thought she was a total weirdo but it seems there are a lot of you about!

Hardbackwriter · 19/09/2020 09:50

I don't get the 'they don't get you dry' thing - there aren't loads of damp people walking around because they've used nice soft towels?

felineflutter · 19/09/2020 09:52

I like a thin, rough towel. I am not at all keen on thick soft towels. Sorry no help whatsoever.

Thatbliddywoman · 19/09/2020 09:55

Is anyone else remembering how often Enid Blyton would say 'Rubbed her dry with a rough towel'?

twilightcafe · 19/09/2020 09:58

Towel policy in my house:
Tumble dry: no fabric conditioner needed.
Line dry: fabric conditioner needed to stop them feeling like cardboard.

felineflutter · 19/09/2020 09:59

Thick, soft towels also have that annoying habit of coming undone when wearing them. You can get a tight fit with a thin one.
