To think I've damaged my foot

Last week I stubbed my toes walking into the couch (clumsy, I know). Couldn't see any bruising or any visible damage and it wasn't hurting so thought nothing of it..

Couple days later it started to hurt and now it's absolutely killing me, my little toe took the brunt of it and now it's so painful, with the pain radiating round the side of my foot.

Surely if it was broken I would have felt pain instantly!? What the hell could I have done to it?Confused

I’ve broken my toes twice through stubbing - if it’s still sore you need to go to a doctor.

Not really much treatment for a broken small toe. Try using ice packs and take ibuprofen if you can.

HardJustGotHarder · 18/09/2020 03:35

Can you attach the little toe to the toe next to it...
and see how you go for the next 12 hours or so?

Suzi888 · 18/09/2020 03:47

I did break my toes (2) doing just that.... I also went for an X-rayBlush which took ages - as I didn’t go to A&E straight away. (I was not about to go to A&E with a toe and so it ‘set’.)

My foot was black with bruising and I limped for about two weeks, possibly longer. I was told to just bind it to the next toe.

Do they even plaster toes?! No idea!

ligament injuries can hurt worse (& take much longer to heal) than broken bones but are very difficult to treat.
sounds like you have terrible swelling in there.

Little toe and it’s been a week? I would say to get an X-ray. I had the same thing, where I “stubbed” my little toe, but it sort of jammed it inwards or something, and I ended up having a fracture farther down inside the side of my foot than in the toe. After the initial “ow, my toe,” there wasn’t a ton of pain until I’d tried to walk on it for a few days and then it was no good.

Sympathies, I’ve managed to bash my smaller toes twice in a matter of months.

I know people who have broken bones in their feet without realising so I was quick to get an X-ray and thankfully all was ok even though it was all blue and swollen.

Definitely get it checked out because long term there may be issues.

Get it checked! I did similar 2 months ago, it’s still very painful, not broken (had an x ray), possibly ligaments involved. The nurse practitioner wasn’t particularly bothered about investigating further and said soft tissue injury. Hmm.

Havaiana · 18/09/2020 07:18

@Shizzlestix I think I had the same the same first time and pain went on for quite a while, but it does eventuality go (no broken bones)
