Sending gift/thankyou to broker/solicitor?

We have purchased a house and DH and I are debating whether we should send flowers, just a thankyou card, something else or nothing at all? I realise they are paid, but the broker in particular seemed to go above and beyond in helping out.
What is the norm/what did you do you?
YABU- they get paid already
YANBU- Its a lovely gesture. Tell me what you'd send?

I am a Conveyancer and it absolutely thrills me when people send cards. My job is tough and stressful. I take on and feel your stress with you and I really care about my clients.

It’s great to get a gift and I would never say no to one, but just a card means the world, or even better an email to my boss/review is better than any flowers!

A box of chocolates/ biscuits can be shared by the whole team, always appreciated. Only one person can take flowers home☺

Very good points thankyou- especially about a box of something being shared.

Funnily enough DH and I had this debate a few weeks ago after we had an offer accepted on a house and the estate agents acting for the seller were so helpful and went above and beyond (literally ringing us with info at 9pm at night and then sending paperwork at midnight).

We sent them these with a little note:

chummysbakery.co.uk/collections/postal-brownies/products/mixed-postal-brownie-box

The administrator who sent all the paperwork rang us up giddy afterwards to say thank you because they’re having a hideous time with all the extra work with people buying and selling on the stamp duty holiday. She said it gave everyone in the office a lift - and DH (who thought it was a bit much at the time) is marvelling that since the brownies arrived the agents are so efficient and return all our calls and are so helpful.

Chocolate helps!

We gave our conveyancer a thank you card and a couple of big boxes of nice chocolates for the office. They did a really good job.

I’m a lawyer but I work in litigation so I am always a distress purchase and no one ever gives me thank you presents 🤣

I love the thank yous I get at work - always makes a huge difference. Go for it, but only a token like flowers, card etc as there may be rules about accepting anything more!

YANBU OP.

I'm a conveyancer and it's actually quite common to receive thank you cards and something like flowers/chocolates Smile it's lovely!

I don't mean common in the sense that it's overdone or everyone does it. But it's certainly not unreasonable or unheard of!

Polkapoo · 17/09/2020 20:25

Oh and I agree with PP, an email to the boss saying how happy you were with the service is always appreciated!

I work for a broker and we love a card, wine, chocolate or biscuits. We display the cards on a board in our office. It’s nice to feel we have been appreciated! A review on our Facebook page or google also puts a smile on our faces!
