Self-isolating due to DC's symptoms

For context I work in a school. We're being extra vigilant at the moment and sending children home who have a temperature.
My DC started with a temperature last night (39°) and it's remained at around 38° all day. They seem ok if a little tired but nothing else. According to their school flow chart we have to keep them off and get them tested for Covid, which we have done today. My boss at work however says they're happy for me to come into work tomorrow as it's probably just a bug (despite sending home children who come to the school I work at with a temperature). When I said I didn't feel comfortable going in until we know for sure they sounded really surprised and were a bit arsey. I'm feeling really torn as I know it's probably just a regular bug however I feel that if it isn't and I go into school then I could potentially infect hundreds of people. AIBU to follow guidelines and stay at home until we get DC's results?

No yanbu. Hopefully the test comes back negative quickly
