Is Boris lying again

Howslifenow · 16/09/2020 18:13

Today on one of the select committee meetings Boris said 1% of the schools have got impacted by Covid in UK.
Assuming 35000 schools in UK, this equals 350 schools.
Mayor of Manchester today says 120 schools in Manchester have been impacted.
That leaves 230 schools rest of UK.
Are we being taken as mugs again.
Why are we not given this information.

It’s really odd I thought mumsnet was a discussion forum. Obviously not.

Yesterdayforgotten · 16/09/2020 23:09

Boris coined the word fable

AlexaShutUp · 16/09/2020 23:13

Boris lies. It's his trademark. We knew it before he was elected, so he is just carrying on as he has always done. He is not being unreasonable to assume that honesty is not a quality that the electorate values in its leaders. The nation chose him in spite of this glaring character flaw. As a nation, we got what we deserved.

Flatpackback · 16/09/2020 23:17

Do you really need to ask? Haven’t you been paying attention? This is a man who has been sacked twice for lying. That’s quite an achievement. What do you reckon on your chances of getting another job it you had a record like that? Of course he’s lying, it doesn’t matter what he said, about anything, it’s all lies.

chomalungma · 16/09/2020 23:17

2 local schools here have had to send home year groups because of positive tests.

I wonder how that relates to national positive tests in schools?

133 schools in Manchester have had confirmed Covid cases

www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/133-schools-across-greater-manchester-18943387

So that's 170 schools in the rest of the country.....

shesgonebatshitagain · 16/09/2020 23:18

Did he ever stop lying?
Inside or outside politics?

Sorry these are loaded beyond weight bearing capacity questions

AlexaShutUp · 16/09/2020 23:18

What do you mean impacted .? Most of those tested have been negative so impacted by colds anD the excess demand in testing?

No, colds only really impact the individuals who have to isolate, as the vast majority of schools are only closing down bubbles when there is a confirmed case of covid.

Of course, the lack of testing probably means that far more schools should be impacted than are counted in the statistics, because not all positive cases will be recognised and bubbles will stay open when they really ought to close.

Tillygetsit · 16/09/2020 23:25

That man couldn't lie straight in bed.

KenDodd · 16/09/2020 23:31

Thing is, lying has worked brilliantly for years for BJ, he's go everything he ever wanted because of all his lies.
Why would he stop now, or ever, when lying works so well?

HannahStern · 16/09/2020 23:31

Boris is honest as the day is long and I'm the Queen of Sheba.

Satisfied now?

AlexaShutUp · 16/09/2020 23:40

Exactly, KenDodd. It's what got him into Downing Street in the first place. Why would he change the habit of a lifetime?

I genuinely don't understand all of the outrage about Boris. Don't get me wrong, I'm as frustrated by the incompetence as the next person. I'm fed up of his lies and I'm ashamed of his threats to break international law. However, all of these things were entirely predictable. He had already demonstrated as Foreign Secretary that he was utterly incompetent. He had been sacked from a previous job for lying, and he had shown an utter contempt for the law over the whole proroguing of parliament. People voted for him despite these tendencies, and he is merely doing what he has always done.no surprises, surely?

Brighterthansunflowers · 16/09/2020 23:50

If he’s breathing he’s lying.

KenDodd · 17/09/2020 00:00

I don't think BJ looked like a schoolboy being told off during Miliband speech. I think he just looked bored and disinterested.

1Morewineplease · 17/09/2020 00:01

It would be really interesting to see the number of schools that have been presented with children/parents who have actually been tested positive or isolating but can't get a test yet, that have refused to acknowledge the numbers for fear of having to close again.

Statistics and lies.

BlackeyedSusan · 17/09/2020 00:03

remember when he was on a hospital visit and claimed there were no reporters there...

raddledoldmisanthropist · 17/09/2020 00:18

The DfE aren't even recording outbreaks in schools, so how would he know? He's just pulled that number out of his arse.

There are several schools local to me which have had to send students home (in one case over half the school). I'd guess maybe 5% of schools here have had confirmed cases.

sorryforswearing · 17/09/2020 00:56

He lies so much that if he told me it was raining I’d go out and check.

yearinyearout · 17/09/2020 01:00

I live in a small town where we haven't been badly hit generally with covid, but two of the local schools have now had a positive case in the last week.

Splendidseptember · 17/09/2020 04:11

Lying or not in full command of the facts?

Splendidseptember · 17/09/2020 04:12

The d of e aren't recording outbreaks? Are you sure?. Student absence has to be specific and sent to d of e by certain time?

PhilCornwall1 · 17/09/2020 04:53

We haven't been told the truth from day one.

Did anyone actually think we would be?

Facelikearustytractor · 17/09/2020 06:49

It is a good job this man isn't Pinocchio. He would look like a tripod by now.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/sep/16/up-to-25000-teachers-in-england-self-isolating-due-to-covid-fears

Up to 25,000 teachers in England may already have been forced out of the classroom and into self-isolation at home amid a national shortage of Covid tests just a fortnight after schools reopened, research suggests.
With some schools reporting up to a fifth of their teaching staff off and unable to get a test, unions warned the crisis was spinning out of control and jeopardising plans for a full return to education, bringing the risk of “lockdown by default”.
One academy trust leader said that 740 state schools in England were either partially or wholly closed with Covid-related issues, meaning tens of thousands of pupils are stuck at home, with their parents unable to go to work.
Some private schools, meanwhile, are paying £120 to test symptomatic students and teachers after many were unable to secure tests locally. “If schools can afford to take the hit, private companies don’t have any problems providing tests,” said one Guildford private school teacher.

Pbbananabagel · 17/09/2020 07:59

When did he stop? Hmm

notanoctopus · 17/09/2020 08:45

@NoMoreReluctantCustodians

I haven't even read the OP and I know it's a resounding yes. He was born lying. He's a lying little shit all of the time.

Yes

^this.

Why can't they just publish school figures (real ones)?!
