DS 10 has a cold. He's been very snotty since Friday night into Saturday. Dd also caught it but over it now. DS is still extremely bunged up. Technically tonight will be day 5.

A family member was surprised it's been going on for 5 days surely 5 days isn't excessive for a cold?!

He's very well in himself and eating well just extremely snotty. Like a head cold..

Aibu to think 5 days isn't all that long for a cold?? He's certainly over the worst of it but just really bunged up still!

I caught my DDs cold overnight Sunday - Monday felt crap, yesterday felt ok and today feel like I've been hit by a tonne of bricks and both nostrils blocked. DD has 2 days off schools and is m is merrily running around the garden and is fine today 🤣
I'd say the last time she infected me it was a good 5-6 days before I could breathe through both nostrils again.

DH has come out once again completely unscathed from the contagion

I can also confirm categorically that a sneeze is NOT 1/10th Of an orgasm as I've sneezed about 7 times in a row and feeling pretty bloody sorry for myself

Five days to a week is normal for a cold, obviously towards the end it is not so bad.

riotlady · 16/09/2020 16:46

I would say 5 days for the worst of it, but not abnormal for some symptoms to linger up to 10days- 2 weeks

My grandma always used to say... “three days going down then three days going back up” for a cold so at least six days...

Porcupineinwaiting · 16/09/2020 17:21

3 days down, 3 days back up and then add another week of snot ime

yeOldeTrout · 16/09/2020 17:30

When I was young adult: 3 weeks was standard
Now I'm an old fart: more than 2 days surprises me

vanillandhoney · 16/09/2020 17:31

I always feel my worst around days 3-4. I'd say feeling crap on day 5 is pretty normal, but I'd expect to feel better by day 7.

Tends to be a week if i take all the chemist will give me or seven days if I don't.
