Little girls dressed head to toe in insipid pink
**@mamanrose* - So because she started the thread she should write mean personal comments to posters?*

No. I meant it was a bit rich her making nasty personal comments to posters when she started the thread and invited opinions. If she didn't want opinions she disagreed with, she shouldn't have started the thread or should have been clear in her first post.
Oh sorry! Yes I agree.

luckylavender · 17/09/2020 10:54

Babies with headbands and no hair

YukoandHiro · 17/09/2020 10:55

Going to get killed for this, but @mamanrose I am with you. It's not the choice to ff that's annoying but the excuses that go with it.
BF bloody hard work. If it's not for you, fine. Banging on about "low supply" rather than simply being unwilling to feed sometimes hourly for the first three months, and to deal with mastitis, tongue tie, blebs and other issues, is infuriating, puts other women off and creates anxiety around the whole concept of BF when there need be none.

Another annoying thing that's probably none of my business is people who think feeding a toddler is "disgusting" when it's perfectly normal - far more normal than any of us drinking cows milk (which I do too, before the flame throwers arrive)

Mamawell · 17/09/2020 10:55

@IhateBoswell

Children in shopping trolleys.
Why?
bonsaiii · 17/09/2020 10:55

My comment wasn't 'nasty'. And if you're allowed opinions, then so am I.

We could keep going around and around on this. I'm in a waiting room, I have nothing but time Grin

OP posts:
Mamawell · 17/09/2020 10:56

Fuck, I need to re-think my life. I do most of these things.

You have no idea why women decide not to breastfeed though.

Why do some women who breastfeed think they're so superior?

Thank you! @YukoandHiro Well said.
YukoandHiro · 17/09/2020 10:59

I'm just responding to to the comments about low supply made in this thread.

I absolutely do not think it's superior. That's why I said I have no issue with FF - simply with the defensiveness that's seems to surround the whole thing. I cannot understand why.

PrincessConsuela12 · 17/09/2020 11:00

People who say generally instead of genuinely, drives me insane 🤷🏽‍♀️😂

Mamawell · 17/09/2020 11:01

@HelplessProcrastinator

Why would a baby on board sign bother you?

If there is a car accident, they look for the baby first!

People are defensive because other people like mamanrose are so judgemental about how they feed their own baby. That's why.

Post people wearing shorts.
Puts me in mind of Jimmy krankie who is extremely creepy.

That's a myth

OP posts:
YukoandHiro · 17/09/2020 11:06

@bonsaiii They're judgemental about EVERYTHING! That's what this thread is all about... What kids wear. What they eat. Etc etc. Everyone has their own views.

I can't bear people who are smug about managing to potty train at age 2. It's blind good luck, not skill. I think they're judgemental; they would probably think I'm a lazy or crap parent.

But people were asked for what annoys them, and so they have posted it...

I personally agree that people claiming they couldn't BF, rather than saying they chose to FF, is fricking annoying.

unmarkedbythat · 17/09/2020 11:11

Men wearing blue suits with brown brogues, especially if they also have a lilac shirt on.

Gancanny · 17/09/2020 11:14

If there is a car accident, they look for the baby first

No they don't, the emergency services will assess priority based on need so if the paramedics have an unconscious adult who is bleeding profusely they will tend to him/her first rather than looking for a hypothetical baby who might not even be there (paramedics wouldn't go trumping around looking anyway, that would most likely be the police as paramedics and fire bridge would be there to deal casualties and wreckage). Baby on Board signs don't prompt them to look for a baby as most times the sign is in the car even when the baby hasn't been. If there was a carseat and/or baby paraphernalia and an indication that a baby might have been in the car but now isn't, then the police would have a look around the immediate vicinity however if properly secured in the appropriate sized car seat the chances of an infant being thrown out of the car on impact are very low.

I absolutely do not think it's superior. That's why I said I have no issue with FF - simply with the defensiveness that's seems to surround the whole thing. I cannot understand why.

Maybe because some people who chose to breastfeed are insufferably smug about it and snidely judgemental of those who simply didn't try as hard as they did...?

ScarMatty · 17/09/2020 11:21

@YukoandHiro

How, honestly, can you find something annoying that is totally out of someone's control? How can you know whether someone is using low supply as an excuse or whether it's a genuine reason?

Surely your annoyance should be aimed at the medical professionals, or more the government, for the proven lack of support and information there is around breastfeeding?

Maybe, just maybe, you should be annoyed and demeaning to someone other than the new mum who wasn't advised well.

FunTimes2020 · 17/09/2020 11:28

@Mamawell I think @IhateBoswell means when children sit in the actual trolley, not the child seat

YukoandHiro · 17/09/2020 11:29

@ScarMatty you're absolutely right - the support in this country is utterly shite. It's simply immoral. But right now we've got a government that very clearly puts business before public health, so nobody should be surprised.

I knew I'd get flamed for saying I thought there was truth in what @mamanrose said, but I do.

Has anyone actually looked at the title of this thread. It's none of our business, after all....

🤷🏻‍♀️

Sanitisethat · 17/09/2020 11:35

@mamanrose I think you are being slightly picked on - your comment was nowhere near as bad as the PP who said pregnant women were disgusting! But I think the reason it has struck a nerve is that unlike most of the other irritants identified on this thread (infants in head bows, leggings, closing curtains etc) the decision to formula feed is usually a difficult one that parents are pushed into either because they don’t feel they have an alternative, or because the alternative is, for them, much worse. I accept there may be some mothers who could easily breastfeed but choose not to because of apparently superfluous reasons, but that is rare. It’s much more commonly the result of pain / lack of support / poor supply / tongue tie / need to work, etc.

That’s why people are hurt. You’re presenting it as a selfish choice, when for most women it doesn’t feel like a choice at all.

ScarMatty · 17/09/2020 11:41

@Sanitisethat

Perfectly put.

YukoandHiro · 17/09/2020 11:41

That's all very true @Sanitisethat

And what an indictment of our NHS maternity service, health visitor, feeding specialists, children's centres and overall culture that sadly is too.

MintyMabel · 17/09/2020 11:47

@EggyPegg

Tried both of those. Her dodgy hands can’t to the individual ones. The elastic ones don’t stretch enough. It’s a real pain in the arse!

The only thing we’ve found that lets her keep her independence and dress herself is velcro.

I can’t see why all shoes aren’t velcro. Shoelaces are so ridiculously pointless. How many people end up slipping tied shoes off because it’s less hassle? I know I do!

Mamawell · 17/09/2020 11:47
**@Mamawell* I think @IhateBoswell* means when children sit in the actual trolley, not the child seat
Ah gotcha... I put my kid in the seat a lot as I don't have anyone to watch him whilst I shop!
