This is the Hansard transcript from today

All he could do when an MP said that people were struggling to get tests was to say how many people did get a test in that MP's Constituency.

If I was reporting back to senior management who were picking me up on my figures - and I could only say "Well, we sold this many items in that area" as my come back, I would be sacked.

Read the transcript.

It's basically "The vast majority of people do. In Luton yesterday, 484 people got tests. I agree with the hon. Member for Hackney South and Shoreditch (Meg Hillier) that we should follow the data"

AIBU to think he has been over promoted?

Christ he was over promoted the minute he became an mp

CherryPavlova · 15/09/2020 22:01

He is a bit dim. That’s why he was picked, I suspect.

CherryPavlova · 15/09/2020 22:03

We need to keep reminding ourselves it is not an NHS testing scheme, as so often said. It is Serco testing with Dido Harding heading it up when she’s not at the races.

ThousandsAreSailing · 15/09/2020 22:06

All of them are only in post because BJ got rid of any independent thinkers
Did anyone hear him today. He said once a free service is offered then demand will riseConfused

chomalungma · 15/09/2020 22:08

All he said today was how many people got tests in each constituency.

Yes, it's great people are getting tests. It's not great that there are people who can't get tests.

...does not know his arse from his elbow.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 15/09/2020 22:10

Yes, the second half of that statistic needs to be how many people tried to get tests. Unless it was also 484, it's not ok.

chomalungma · 15/09/2020 22:14

Mind you , this is his boss

"That is thanks to the efforts of NHS Test and Trace, which is, in my view, doing an absolutely heroic job in spite of the difficulties that it faces. It has massively raised its output and it will be up to 500,000 tests a day by the end of October. This is an organisation that is working heroically to contain the spread of the disease, and it requires the public to trust the organisation and to participate. Yesterday, the right hon. and learned Gentleman said that it was on the verge of collapse. I think that those were ill-chosen words. I think he now regrets those words. I think he should reflect and he should take them back."

He's nice but dim only without the nice.

CherryPavlova · 15/09/2020 22:17

It’s so wrong to call the chaotic and failing system the NHS track and trace.

chomalungma · 15/09/2020 22:21

@CherryPavlova

It’s so wrong to call the chaotic and failing system the NHS track and trace.
Indeed

Anyone would think it was called that deliberately because it's not seen as the done thing to criticise the NHS

It seems Hancock et al want praise for what they have managed to achieve rather than anyone criticising them.
