The word 'cunt'

Why is it, 'cunt' is an accepted word to use when calling other people names?

I know that is not 'nice' to do so, but it seems like a 'non frowned upon' term to use in informal settings if someone is really really horrible.

I really don't get it! Why use a (very important) part of the female anatomy to insult someone.

For me it seems like the ultimate way to demean a woman's body, and I am so surprised, when other women use that word.
However, I am not from an english speaking country, so perhaps I am missing something- please enlighten me.

I think the fact that some people still find it offensive shows that to some, it is still a word that can be used to make people feel shame and embarrassment. Normalise it and it has none of those feelings attached to it, it’s just a word like dick.

I use "cunt" all the time. It's the tone of voice and intent that decides whether it is offensive or not. I'd much rather be called a cunt in a friendly manner than be called stupid/ugly/black/bitch in an unfriendly one.

I should clarify I don't use it to strangers (unless they are being cunts of course!) only with people who I know are grown up enough not to take offence at a mere word.

I can't stand the c word! It makes me cringe. I swear like a trooper but I never ever use that word. I don't know why but to me it is THE worst swear word, I think it's very crude 🤷‍♂️, I know a few people who use it but never in normal conversation, more in anger.

Cunt is a perfectly fine swear word to use. As long as you NEVER say it around anyone or else they will get pissed off Cake

LunaNorth · 19/10/2020 05:10

I love the word. I love that it’s seen as the worst swear word.

That means it has power and potency, and so it should, because cunts are powerful and potent.

I did once say cunt to describe my own vagina. I was at the swimming pool with my son, he was 7 or 8. He accidentally kicked me hard between the legs as he kicked off to swim away. I turned to my mum and said "he's just kicked me right in the cunt". It just came out, and it hurt. My mum never swears, but she was sympathetic.
