AIBU to think that she is simply a revolting human being?

'Mingling' - ie accidentally bumping into a family/group you know in the street, having a quick chat and then leaving she now considers 'illegal' and she would call the police on you. But breaking international law isn't what they are doing at all.....not at all.....

A human rights lawyer has quickly called her out on it and said she is talking absolute rubbish.

It's scary how incompetent our government is.

This ^ bothers me. There are plenty of male politicians who have a similar attitude and demeanour. How many of them are described as ‘hostile and aggressive?’ It echoes women being described as strident for behaviour that we’d describe as assertive if it came from a man.

I'm glad she isn't my MP as apparently she isn't much better at that job for her constituents and has alienated many in the past with her attitude towards them.
She is smug and arrogant. I know many politicians are like this, but even my own personal bete noir Mrs Thatcher had a bit more charm than she ever will.
It's unfortunate that every time she's on tv doing the rounds she manages to court so much controversy.
Daily Mail comments are generally supportive so they clearly like this kind of arrogance and bluster! It Baffles me but this current crisis hasn't painted many of them in a good light lately and a few tory voters I know personally are a bit puzzled by it all. ( they will still vote them in next election though ! )

It's a sobering thought that if I were to bump into my DD and her DH and their 5 children in the street and we had a short 'mingle', that someone who thinks like Priti Patel might take it into their head to call the police on us.

I thought that too I had a sort of out of body experience, sat in the car, listening to the Home Secretary repeatedly say the words ‘mingle’ and ‘mingling’ as if the action is a crime against humanity.

I'm no fan of Matt Hancock but he would have answerd the same questions straight and admitted that no guidance was perfect, just don't linger and make bumping into someone & saying Hello into a social occasion. If in doubt don't do it and don't get ridiculous about details.

Patel's interview this morning on mingling was a carcrash. Even her accent was grating; I normally don't care about accents at all.

I have to agree that regardless of her sex and ethnicity, I do find her manner quite sneering and hostile. I'm always reminded of that clip of her talking about child poverty, and I don't believe I've ever seen a politician speak like that about hungry children.

She's like Jordan Petersen in the Helen Lewis interview. Most politicians I think do attempt to look quite affable most of the time in media interviews.

If Steve Wright doesn't have "serious minglin" on his show this week he's missed a trick.

Her demeanour is just so hostile and aggressive. I saw a meme a while back that that they were bringing in someone to do the CV daily updates to replace her with more compassion, followed by a photo of Hannibal Lecter.....says a lot really!

But yes they are pretty much just making it up as they go along. It's very much a case of 'do as I say not as I do'. No self respecting adult will be on board with that for very long when their quality of life is suffering because of it.

I do find it fascinating the utter vitriol Priti Patel gets compared to other MPs.

Is it because she's not only female and a woman of colour but a female WOC who isn't left-wing? (Rhetorical question. It is).

I don't find her aggressive but nor do I find Jordan Peterson so bad, and she certainly can't help her smile.

I still treasure the moment when she looked so pleased and proud to announce that shoplifting figures were right down. At a time when 90% of shops were closed.
