People just don’t seem to care anymore

Not sure if this will come across just as a rant but I’m honestly intrigued if people agree or if it’s just me.

Things now feel so challenging and people seem to always let you down. It’s become acceptable not to reply to people, to cancel plans last minute, companies/tradesmen don’t show up anymore. I feel all I do is chase people and companies up all the time.

If you’re trying to get a painter/plumber etc I’m forever chasing and phoning to see if they want the job. I’ve booked my car in for a service where they are meant to pick it up (I have a newborn so hard to wait in a garage) and twice they have not shown up or called? Estate agents don’t get back to you when you ask for updates, recruiters ignore you when you ask for feedback. And on top of that even friends it seems more acceptable to drop out of things last minute

Things are just harder. I don’t want to chase people all the time. Why can’t people commit and follow through anymore?

Does anyone else feel like this?

in many aspects society has become more selfish and entitled that their wants and needs trump everyone elses. it's always been the same but we just notice it more now through social media and busy lives ' can't see you something has come up i've got a better offer' attitude

In my experience things have always been like this. I remember tradesmen just not bothering to turn up when I was a kid in the 80s. When I started applying for jobs 20 years ago, it was the norm not to receive an acknowledgement. I think the only difference now is that there is more opportunity to communicate things when plans change, but human nature hasn't changed.

Customer service , in general , is pretty hit and miss.
Why does a refund take days to appear in your accounts when they can take the money instantly? Why is it when you buy anything it breaks down after a few years , even the more expensive brands or goods? Why does it take forever to get through to a call centre?
I agree that tradespeople are hard to get hold of or to pin down sometimes but if it's someone self employed I'm a bit more sympathetic , mostly! But it's still difficult to get things done.

Agree, because anonymity is easier nowadays so there’s less accountability. It sucks!

And when tradespeople do turn up I’ve had first hand experience of them doing a crap job, charging the Earth for it and not apologising for doing it wrong!!! (Or offering to put right any defects!)
