This is a rant. An honest to goodness rant. I have posted on legal to hopefully get some legal advice but here I am ranting. I am clearly NBU!
So I ordered some expensive gaming PCs for the DCs back in March. They BOTH arrive with damaged graphics cards. No problem I ring the company, they send out 2 new ones, I install them and all is good.
Until June when one one the Windows blue screen of death appears. Nothing fixes it. System restore. Reinstall windows etc etc. Send it off to company who repair it. Comes back fixed. Great. Except now the wifi receiver is dodgy and signal is less strong. Connect ethernet cable. Back to all being good. Fast forward 2 months and the bloody system crashes again. USB stick to reinstall windows doesn't work. I contact the company who take me through all the options I've already tried.
At the same time. PC frikking 2 breaks. One day its hard drive just decides to stop working so DC cannot play anything on it. Much emailing back and forth with company (their customer service is shit you can't get them on the phone) and in the end they send out a new hard drive. This also doesn't work. So off the PC goes for a repair. It comes back with a new new hard drive but it still doesn't work!
So I now have 2 broken PCs, 2 annoyed DC so I email and ask for a refund. I'm offered ANOTHER repair. I point out I have no faith in them and again ask for refund. A different chap responds saying first guy has been sacked for incompetence and they will rebuild. I say don't want a rebuild want a refund as they not satisfactory quality. He implicitly agrees to a refund and asks me if I have original packaging. I say yes. He now says he doesn't like doing refunds so I can have a replacement. I say not my problem. He says it is because software isnt covered under the act so I cant have a refund. Doesnt say anything about the one with a hardrive but they'll offer me 2 replacement PCs instead.
Ahh OK compromise I think so I ask a few questions. New parts? Warranty? Time scale? Etc. Oohhhh they will hopefully be built with new parts they say but maybe if we have no stock well use reconditioned. No your warranty doesn't start again you lose the 6 months you've had the old crappy PCs. I say thanks but no thanks that sound like a terrible deal. I'll take some legal advice.
Speak to which legal helpline who says absolutely you entitled to a refund. Hes lying his pants off and that's actually illegal. Send a letter before action and then go small claims court. I tell company this and they say you talking nonsense but since all you will accept it a refund you can have one. Fantastic say I let me know timescale and when you picking these broken PCs up.
A completely different person replied saying I can't have the bloody refund. That depsite me having billions of email conversations about this they cant see the details of the hardware fault on one of them ..... the implication being software is not covered.
I am fuming. Ineffectually admittedly as I cant do anything but tell me IANBU to be a ball of rage!
