Martyr to self~employment

My dp is self employed. Takes 2 weeks annual leave. Does not love his work and I earn enough for him to work less to improve work life balance.
Is exhausted, flat and grumpy ~I have suggested booking 4 weeks of leave for the forthcoming year so it is clear to clients what the plan is. This would work. It's not that difficult!
But no, we will have another year of grumpy and exhausted!

Hmm I see your view but I’m self employed and I take minimal leave because of finances and keeping clients happy.
I’m taking 14 weeks mat leave later on this year and the moaning I’ve had, well you wouldn’t believe.
It’s quite hard to leave work behind when you work for yourself.

I understand your DP. I'm self employed and you hate to turn down work because you never know when the next client is coming along. Insecurity is a real work motivator!
