Adult DS wants me to wash his cap?

I went to DS's place, and mentioned one of the threads I'd seen with superb puns, ''Fishy Willy'' {12th Sept}
He was surprised at the discussion and liked the puns, and then said as an aside..

' Would you be able to wash my cap in bio tex, please ?'

I said I'd Put it to Mumsnet ...And see what the good women on here say..Just for fun.

DS then said {re washing caps}

'' That's what mums are for ''
Boom!

So....Do I soak the slightly sweat marked cap in Bio Tex, and dry it so it keeps it's shape, or do I give the bio tex to him?

As an aside I find it incredibly sad for a 21 year old man to be requesting his mummy wash his baseball cap.

Thisismytimetoshine · 13/09/2020 13:59

Are you the op of the fishy willy thread, that was deleted for trolling? Can't stay away, can you? Bless.
This one is just as dumb.

FizzyGreenWater · 13/09/2020 14:01

'Thanks for the offer but I'm all good'

Heptember · 13/09/2020 14:01

It's like there's a bit of hinted innuendo about the mum being asked to wash a sons cap.

Which is Envy

CiderJolly · 13/09/2020 14:01

They discussed a thread on mumsnet which had some puns in it which her son thought was funny.

He made a joke when asking his mum to wash his baseball cap saying ‘that’s what mums are for’- this is a slogan off a laundry advert.

Op is just asking if she is being unreasonable to wash his cap.

DameHannahRelf · 13/09/2020 14:06

Clean a mans cap for him and he has a clean cap for a day; teach a man to clean his cap and he has a clean cap for a lifetime... Smile

CatSmith · 13/09/2020 14:12

What has your adult sons inability to do his own laundry got to do with the fish puns?

I presume you thought you was going to get an hilarious thread rather than a beasting?

Show him where the laundrette is.

ludothedog · 13/09/2020 14:16

I understand what you mean op. Your son has a baseball cap that needs hand washing. The comment about fishy explains why you were talking to your son about mumsnet. He made a sexist comment about about hand washing caps being womens work. You wrote boom because this is the heart of the issue, your sons (half joking presumably) comment about womens work. You said you would put it to mumsnet knowing he'd get his arse handed to him. However mumsnet is being contrary today and you've got back some silly replies....

Hmmm, my feminist response would be to tell him to do one. My mum response would be to help him.

They do make Biotex, I have seen it in either Savers or Wilco - can't remember which.

Anyway, for the people who were not sure what the thread was about - A grown man was asking his mother to wash is cap for him. Whether the cap is on his head or his knob does not matter. The answer is, do it yourself!

RainbowRaine · 13/09/2020 14:17

And yes I would wash the cap as I know how to do it properly rather than risk a meltdown is DS did it himself and it turned out wrong.

GameSetMatch · 13/09/2020 14:19

I’d do it for him! It’s what I expect to do for my children, it will nice to still be ‘useful 😂’ I still get my mum to do my sewing for me and I’m in my 30s!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 13/09/2020 14:25
Hmm
chrislilleyswig · 13/09/2020 14:26

I get on great with my kids.

I don't see me ever discussing willies that smell of fish on Mumsnet with them though

I also would love to see the day that my DS asked me specifically about biotex

Southernsoftie76 · 13/09/2020 14:27

Mumsnet is weird regarding adult children, of course I would wash my sons cap, why wouldn’t I. If I was having trouble changing a tyre I would give my son a ring to come and help me (or is that not allowed) don’t all families do little favours for each other? My daughter is 24, she is working 14 hour days setting up her business, I pop round to hers and stick a wash on, run the hoover round and make sure she’s topped up with milk and chocolate. My mum did the same for me when I was a working single parent, I was so grateful and loved her for it.

ParlezVousWronglais · 13/09/2020 14:30

Fucking what?

GoldfishParade · 13/09/2020 14:32

@Southernsoftie76 that sounds alright but it would piss me off if it happened often and you were my MIL

rambleon1 · 13/09/2020 14:33

I do lots of favours for my grown up children. I find it weird that people on MN seem to stop helping their kids out when they hit 16.
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 13/09/2020 14:33

Well. I'm usually the first to say No, tell him to do it himself, but there are some things that aren't "run of the mill" in terms of laundry, so if he's never had to wash a cap before, and it's a special-to-him cap, I'd probably agree to wash it but ALSO insist he learns how to do it himself by watching. And then never do it again after that first time.

MGMidget · 13/09/2020 14:35

Do you wash all his clothes? I am currently starting to encourage my 12 year old boy to start doing his own washing, gently with a bit of coaching and he is happily doing it. By the time he is an adult I hope he’ll be expert and wouldnt dream of asking me to wash anything for him!

Thecobwebsarewinning · 13/09/2020 14:37

@Southernsoftie76. My adult daughter would be very pissed off if I cleaned her flat while she was out. She left home to be independent.

Biotex is sold on Amazon.

DianasLasso · 13/09/2020 14:43

Only here for the deletion message.

Southernsoftie76 · 13/09/2020 14:45

@Thecobwebsarewinning just shows how different families are doesn’t it. Mine is happy when she gets home around 9pm after starting out at 7am and is covered in horse poo and straw, starving hungry and tired to have a clean flat and a treat in the fridge. What an interfering mother I am Grin

Devlesko · 13/09/2020 14:52

I'd laugh and tell him to get his own.
No, don't tell him where to buy it from.

diddl · 13/09/2020 14:53

The only connection I can see between the other thread & this one is that they're both a load of bollocks!
