Well, my 5yr old DD loves it and is better than me at 10 pin bowling.
My 3yr old DS is still a wee bit to young, but loves to try.

Best type of games console out there IMO

PeckaRolloverAgain · 08/10/2007 10:53

I think 10, 7 and even 3 will love it!

chatee · 08/10/2007 10:54

this is what my dh has decided the children would like for xmas...uhhmmm????

peggotty · 08/10/2007 10:54

Draculasmummy, YOU might even love it - my DH got given one as a freebie - it's actually quite good fun!! (and I HATE computer-gamery type things normally)

goingfor3 · 08/10/2007 10:55

My 6 year old loves it and my 3 year old is quite keen too.

Stargazer · 08/10/2007 11:06

Sorry, I think YABU - your 10, 7 and 3 year old will love it. My DD (6) had the boogie/karoke one for her birthday - and she's a budding popstar now. Actually I think it's me that doens't like it! Although once I start to play with it it's great fun . And my DS (11) thinks the tennis matches are great. You might enjoy it.

Mo2 · 08/10/2007 11:08

Yes, sorry YABU!

I bought one for DH (and we're not really a computer games 'family') and the DSs (8 and 5) LOVE it.
Have just bought the Big Brain game and we can't get DS1 off it!

TrinityRhino · 08/10/2007 11:12

yabu

my 7 and2 yr old are going to love the one we are buying and so are me and dh

draculasmummy · 08/10/2007 11:13

I hate the usual kind of X-Box type thingies. I've spent years resisting the huge pressure from people to let them have anything tech (mil in particular). Maybe it is time i got with it. Thing is ds1 is 7 and loves scabbing around outside being a proper child the way i remeber being a chilod and i don't want that to change. Maybe that's unreasonable

Your problem now might be actually finding one. It seems they are in short supply - not helped by the fact that some greedy bastards enterprising people buy loads to put them on e-bay

draculasmummy · 08/10/2007 11:17

Really wordgirl? Shame. Perhaps i should put him off buying one til christmas then. Just to make sure they are all gone or stupid money [Devious cow emoticon]

We have just bought one. We sold lots of stuff - DH's XBox, lots of DD's old toys, etc. Raised over £300 so got 5yo DD a Wii, well for all of us really.

5yo DD loves it! As do we all. Like with everything she doesn't play with it exclusively and never for long periods of time (unlike me when on My Sims and Trauma wink] ) It's just fun! And it is nice to play some of it together too, like the bowling and other sports package.

DD loves Bowling, Cars and her current favourite is Brain Academy - she loves trying to get as many medals in the practise solo sessions as she can. She is currently waiting for the High School Musical and the Disney Princess games - I suspect Father Christmas will bring them

It really is a fab family toy.

Oh, and I had no problem getting hold of one a couple of weeks ago. Loads of places had them online. And I just walked into Game on the high street in town and they had plenty available. However I'd get it sooner rather than later as stock may well run low as we get closer to Christmas.

wordgirl · 08/10/2007 11:25

That was a couple of weeks ago though Hulababy. They are all gone now. DH has his name down at Game so they can let him know when they get any stock.

Budababe · 08/10/2007 11:27

I'd love to get one for DS (6) but we already have a PS2 and he bought himself a Nintendo DS with his birthday money and DH is not keen on any more electronic stuff. My worry is more that DS is an only child and I don't want him to be spoilt totally!

Hulababy · 08/10/2007 11:27

The same Game had Wii consoles available to buy there and then when I went in last Thursday too - went to get new games Must have just fallen lucky when I have been in.

Ebay were selling at BIN prices to match the deals in Game and Woolworths a couple of weeks ago. If stock has fallen again guess they may have gone up too.

cuppa · 08/10/2007 11:28

ok, can I gatecrash & ask - mine have got a ps2 (last Christmas). I would've got a wii I guess but I'm slow and hadn't even heard of it till after . So is it really so good as to justify having it as well as the ps2? Or do I need to think of another idea?

Ds loves to play the eye toy game with his friends when they come round

goingfor3 · 08/10/2007 11:30

You can buy gamecube games really cheaply which can be played on the wii you do also need to buy controller though but they are only a coupleof pounds each. My dd love MarioSunshine and Mario cart.

Hulababy · 08/10/2007 11:31

We don't have any other big console. Has XBox but neither me or DD ever used that, and Dh only ever really played Golf on it. Loving the Wii so far though!

For availability, you could try keep checking here to see if and when avaiable in idfferent shops: here Not sure how up to date though.

heifer · 08/10/2007 11:41

Now I feel really mean, as I have a WII, but it's mine all mine..

Have NEVER let DD 3.10 have a go! and DH just not interested..

Mine you, I haven't actually had time to play it very much, it tends to get used when friends come around..

So you guys all think that 3.9 is NOT too young then? any suggestions on games for that age?

Ours are 9 and 6 and we want to get them one for Christmas. They are great fun

weblette · 08/10/2007 13:39

Apparently - and this was from a shop assistant in Manchester after my parents had trawled dozens of shops - they're off the shelves because they have to add a silicon wrapper to some part of it. It does seem very strange that there were loads available and they've now disappeared.

Nintendo are just saying it's demand - yeah right....

swag · 08/10/2007 13:43

YABU

Wii's are fab!

Though slightly embarrassing to get wupped by a 3 year old

draculasmummy · 08/10/2007 15:06

O.k - am convinced! Just need to find one now. Oh,and what games do you all recommend? And what extras do i need?
