I was watching Last Night of the Proms (for the 1st time) and this came up. What a racket!

For the first time...

What made you watch it?

Anyway - I agree with you with the version of Jerusalam. Not good.

I also think that Land of Hope and Glory was boring, and the National Anthem version was slow and tedious. I did like the line about 'May she uphold our laws'.

Rule Britannia was ok - but the singers looked like they were in a hostage situation.

We turned it off. Awful.

The Last Night of the Proms needs the audience, if all concerts it's the one in which the audience is a part of the performancve. Personally I think they made the best of a bad job although I've never been a fan of the Parry arrangement of the National Anthem.

I had to mute Jerusalem as it was an abomination. I was watching Last Night generally out of interest really to see how it would go. I love classical music but usually hate all the jingoism of last night at the proms. The reduced amount of flag waving made it more bearable than in other years. I loved to South African soprano. What a voice.
