Book Subscriptions

Shamelessly posting for traffic as the new restrictions have ruined plans.

Can anyone recommend a monthly book subscription service, please? Birthday present for my mum who is in her 60s.

I had very good service from Willoughby book club for a while. They chose excellent books and on the 3 occasions they sent me books I already had, they sent me replacements and let me keep the original too.

A Box of Stories is good, and they choose books that perhaps haven't had the kind of coverage they deserve.

Hi Op,

I have literally just been given a subscription for this one for my 50th birthday and it looks fab.

Thank you all so much.

I'm usually so against abusing AIBU but I'm desperate (and crampy).

Now, would it be wrong to put she enjoys crime/thrillers knowing she doesn't mind them, and I'll get them after? 🤔

I'm also looking for reccomendations for book subscriptions. I am a book worm and want to treat myself to a monthly surprise. Ive just signed up for one month of Reposed so will let you know how that is.

I'm 4 months in to a 6 month Reposed subscription and it's been a mixed bag to be honest. The books have been great but the extras are very hit and miss. I found it dodgy that the first month was fab, lovely tea, sheet mask, chocolate, Muslim cloth beautifully wrapped. But the second was a broken biscuit, slightly opened tea sachet, just thrown in tissue and not the nice box😕 When I dropped them an email they were totally dismissive and said I should have taken photographs!!
It was their loss as I had been about to order a subscription for my sister as she's had a tough year. This month's had some jelly cubes and the most horrific orange lip balm known to man.
So good books but expensive if the extras are pants.

Bloody auto correct - a muslin cloth not a Muslim cloth!!!!

I'd also recommend a Book if Stories and you can choose crime genre rather than general if you prefer.

ellentree · 30/09/2020 10:38

Box of Stories even!!

CheshireChat · 30/09/2020 11:30

I never even realised this service exists so I'm glad you've posted this, however you really shouldn't add a genre she isn't really keen on just so you get the books Grin, sorry just pick her favourites or let her pick
