To tell neighbour his son looks like Steve Tyler?

I'll be brief :

Chatting to neighbour and saw a photo on their wall : his eldest son had long hair in the photo and tbh looked exactly like Steve Tyler.

I told him so and he was like Confused and then he said, oh when he was younger? I'm like, yeah of course, when he was younger, like 20. Very handsome etc.

Neighbour seemed a bit annoyed - AIBU?

Maybe he disapproves of Aerosmith

Hedgehog44 · 12/09/2020 18:59

Your neighbour is strange! Do not worry!

liverbird10 · 12/09/2020 19:00

Maybe his wife had some Love In An Elevator?

DrManhattan · 12/09/2020 19:01

Ouch! I'd be gutted lol

Owlypants · 12/09/2020 19:17

Does his son have a huge mouth?

Susannahmoody · 12/09/2020 19:26

He has a fairly generous mouth, yes

I don’t find Steve Tyler pleasing to my eye 😂

DeRigueurMortis · 12/09/2020 19:27

Maybe he thought you were implying his dude looks like a lady?

mallowa · 12/09/2020 19:28

lol

Gatekeeper · 12/09/2020 19:29

Bliddy hell..I wouldn't be pleased either. He's/was a right ugly looking bugger

rslsys · 12/09/2020 19:42

Which way does he walk & talk?

HorridHamble · 12/09/2020 19:43

Maybe he’s heard it 100 times before? Not a criticism of you. I’d have said something too.

gypsywater · 12/09/2020 19:43

It's pretty much an insult

MinnieJackson · 12/09/2020 20:01

Love Steve Tyler! Don't worry, your neighbour was probably just overcome with Sweet Emotion Blush

Cauterize · 12/09/2020 20:10

'A fairly generous mouth' Grin

Nothing wrong with Steven Tyler imo, especially in his younger years!

CoronaBollox · 12/09/2020 20:17

You may as well have said his son looks like a baboons arse.

RunningFromInsanity · 12/09/2020 20:18

That’s a blatant insult OP!

questionzzz · 12/09/2020 20:24

I think as a general rule it's best to avoid saying someone looks like X, even if you think X is the best-looking person in the world. I think my bf looks like a youngish Peter Capaldi, and I mentioned it to him, he had never heard of Peter Capaldi (Canadian), googled him and burst out "he looks like fucking Jordan Peterson! what the hell!"
Basically you never know what how people view celebrities and so on, and views aren't always as obvious as you think they are.

sassafras123 · 12/09/2020 20:43

Steve Tyler absolutely love that man !

Mamette · 12/09/2020 20:47

Steven Tyler isn’t a good person.

Bluntness100 · 12/09/2020 20:48

Steve Tyler. I would.

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 12/09/2020 20:49

Oh god. If you even remotely look like someone it's the most annoying thing to keep being reminded of that. It gets old very fast.

Friend gets "omg you look like Seth Rogen' all the time. He doesn't he just has curly hair and a beard. I bet the only similarity is a strong jawline and long hair. Stop telling people they look like someone.

Gelop · 12/09/2020 20:54

Steve Tyler was a total creep when younger and now looks like a weird captain jack sparrow madam Tussauds model that's been kept too close to to the radiator

MsVestibule · 12/09/2020 21:03

I don't think it's always a bad thing to tell someone they look like somebody famous? I used to be told all the time that I looked like Helen Baxendale (Cold Feet and Emily in Friends). I took it as a compliment 🤷‍♀️.

However, I was on a singles skiing holiday and our tour guide was told by someone in our group that she looked like Kathy Burke which she wasn't too chuffed with.
