C Section wounds smells a bit

Really sorry not an AIBU but posting for traffic.

Had a c section 4 weeks and 3 days ago, on Thursday I noticed a small hole had opened up and there was a small amount of yellow leakage that had a smell and then a small amount of blood. I called 111 as my docs were closed and they had a look and said it wasn’t infected and put another bandage on for a couple days.

I’ve just taken that one off and instantly noticed a smell, should I call 111 again? Can it wait until Monday? I don’t want to ignore an infection but also just got it seen a few days ago so I’m really not sure what I should do and don’t want to waste anyone’s time!

Any experiences or knowledge appreciated!

It's infected. Needs looking at straight away. This happened to me twice

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your newborn.
I would wash with warm salty water, as that might help if their is any infection. Is the area warm and are the edges red? It might be worth giving them a call as a smell can be an indication of infection. They may also arrange for a swan to be taken. Hope everything goes well x

Swab not swan

Get it seen as soon as possible, I ended up having daily dressings for 3 months when mine got infected.

Yy get it seen ASAP. Today, in other words.

If you have any other symptoms, e.g. fever, spreading redness around it, worsened pain, feel v unwell, then you need to seek immediate medical Attention (ie A&e or ambulance if you are too unwell).

Otherwise, you could try calling out of hours gp, try 111, community or hospital midwife? You may just need it cleaned and dressed, but you may need antibiotics (do tell them whether you are breastfeeding and any allergies as it may affect exactly what you get).

Congratulations!
Get the wound seen ASAP, it should not smell.

Sounds like you may have an abcess. That happened to me. Took months to heal with different courses of antibiotics but I’m still here to tell the tale.

Thanks guys! I’ve called 111 and they’re going to contact me within 12 hours but didn’t really have any immediate advice so I also called my local maternity ward and they’ve advised me to clean it with pure alcohol or disinfectant and to go to A&E if I don’t hear back within 12 hours or if anything gets worse! Honestly can’t wait until it’s all healed and a distant memory 😂 and thank you for the congratulations, he’s definitely worth it!
