Broken hair along parting

AIBU to ask what other people do about this?

I have a centre parting and quite a lot of either broken hair or new hairs that are about an inch long that stand up along the parting. It looks messy and scruffy and I'm trying to look more groomed so any tips on how other people deal with this would be very gratefully received. My hairdresser said to put hairspray on them but they seem to ping back up.

I have something that looks like a clear mascara that you use to brush the hair down that’s quite good - will see what it’s called when I get home

@lou573 that would be fantastic thank you!

Same here OP - and along the hairline at the front too. I found some "Mixed Chicks Slick Styling Tamer" on Amazon, I originally used it to glue my wayward eyebrows but I found it sticks down those bits of hair as well, applied lightly with a mascara wand. Doesn't make the hair overly crispy or oily (unless you go in too heavily) and smells divine.

I'd be more concerned what was causing these hairs. Whether your hair is brittle through any styling or bleaching, if you're catching the same part of your head on a helmet or hat, etc. Because I had this issue when I used to wear a bike helmet, and I had a coat with velcro which caught a lot. I used to chuck my hair up differently or cover it with a head scarf or hat, til the hairs had grown back.

Use some product, there’s so much available now that does the job of gel but isn’t gel...

And it’s just new hair that’s started it’s growth cycle, definitely not something to worry about! Slick it down, at a pinch you can use lip balm, Nivea Orr something similar but buy something suitable if it’s bothering you.

Have you had a baby recently OP?I lost a lot of hair 3 months after mine was born and then a year later I had very thin dry hair with new growth along the parting.
