Kissing is the best bit

Right?

When I think back over my love life, my clearest, fondest memories are of the really exciting kisses, not the sex. Even when the sex has been really good, it’s just not as thrilling somehow.

Is there anything better than a first kiss with a really good kisser? Especially if they’re the ones you go on to fall in love with.

My first boyfriend at 15 was a bit of an idiot, but damn he could kiss. And he smelled delicious - all leather jacket and fags.

I also remember the summer after my GCSEs. There was a real spark between me and a lad at my weekend job (full time for most of that summer, it was great). There was a party at my house one night, some other couple was shacked up in my room so I slept on the living room floor with everyone else, the lad from work was next to me, we were tucked away in a corner behind the arm of the sofa. In the pitch dark, he kissed me. We kissed all night, no-one else had a clue, they were all chatting away in the dark. It was just brilliant.

AIBU or is kissing the best?

Absolutely YANBU

treeleave · 11/09/2020 23:52

Agree 100%

GoldfishParade · 11/09/2020 23:53

Kissing someone for the first time, or someone you have just started to see is pretty powerful.

More powerful than sex IMO so yeah I agree with you. The mouth is somehow more intimate than the privates for some reason, if you get me.

rosyvalentine · 11/09/2020 23:54

I totally agree! That's the exciting bit. It's all downhill from there on...Smile

StormBaby · 11/09/2020 23:54

100% agree. I always kissed on a first date for exactly that reason, if there’s no spark, I’m not interested. I could snog DH all day long, the way he puts his hand on my face, it makes me swoon.

SingingSands · 11/09/2020 23:55

I used to go ice skating on a Saturday in town when I was 15, and ended up meeting an older lad there (17) and we'd go outside and spend all afternoon snogging. He looked like Disney's Aladdin, I can still remember those kisses.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 11/09/2020 23:57

It’s so true about intimacy - I’ve had good kissing sessions that have felt way more intimate than various one night stands.

@SingingSands

Oh the beautiful 90s boys with the Aladdin hair. Those were the days.

Yes OP I can smell the leather jacket and Davidoff Cool Water/Kouros now....great times!

WinterAndRoughWeather · 12/09/2020 10:26

Yes Davidoff! So much nicer than Lynx. I assume boys and men these days have many more options.

Sometimes, depending on what I've been wearing, I've had an actual spark when our lips touched. Amazing!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 12/09/2020 11:22

YANBU. In fact I sent DP a message last night saying that I’m looking forward to seeing him today and one of his amazing kisses that makes me weak at the knees.

He has really course stubble so it can be quite uncomfortable when he hasn’t shaved for a few days, and I’m always disappointed when he turns up all beardy and I can’t kiss him without losing the top layer of skin off my face Grin

Hoping my message will prime him to shave before he comes over so that we can have a good long smooch when he gets here.

IamMaz · 12/09/2020 11:42

There was a couple of brothers in the town where I lived, who were well known amongst all the girls. Both very fanciable. Although he was younger than me, I always fancied the younger one. Whenever we passed each other in the town at night, he's always asked me for a snog! I still swoon at the thought.
I never did get to go out with him - probably just as well as the magic would have gone.

ClementineWoolysocks · 12/09/2020 11:45

I've been with my other half for 15 years, we still have full-on snog sessions. His kisses still make my stomach and other bits feel fluttery!

Pearsapiece · 12/09/2020 11:46

Oh yes! When I think back to my first kiss with dh it still gives me butterfly's. He smelt of Stowford press, fags and issy myakie after shave!

Metothee · 12/09/2020 12:29

Yes! I still remember my first kisses with DH and previous boyfriends much much clearer than I remember the first time we slept together. Really powerful stuff and as a pp said - all downhill from there. Nothing beats the lead up to a first kiss, especially if the tension has been building in the weeks beforehand. I often feel a teeny bit sad that I'll never experience that feeling again. Unless DH dies and I'm back on the prowl (joking! kind of...Grin)

Sweetpopsicle · 12/09/2020 12:32

I agree !! I have a date later this week.. with a guy who is so handsome i want to pinch myself.
And damn im really looking fwd to that first kiss !!!

WinterAndRoughWeather · 12/09/2020 12:32

@Pearsapiece

Stowford Press? My favourite drink of all time. We must be from the same neck of the woods...

BlusteryShowers · 12/09/2020 12:35

Yes! I remember one first kiss from my teenage days that literally left me weak at the knees. I had to walk along a main road to the car park where my dad was picking me up and I was all of a flutter! Grin

OverTheRubicon · 12/09/2020 12:38

Ugh no. Don't love kissing, usually a bit squelchy. One boyfriend was a great kisser (terrible boyfriend though), but other than him I've always been very keen on sex, a bit bored by the preliminaries..

Pearsapiece · 12/09/2020 12:48

@WinterAndRoughWeather my husband would drink anything back in the day but Stowford was a favourite. No where ever has it on tap any more! Not that it matters as dh is teetotal now

Wheelyyyy · 12/09/2020 12:51

Agree 100%

Rumtopf · 12/09/2020 13:09

I totally agree. Nothing like a good snog that takes your breath away.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 12/09/2020 21:12

@Pearsapiece

I’m sure it’ll still be on tap in Herefordshire (i hope anyway...).

Interesting only one dissenting voice so far. I wonder how men feel about kissing?
