AIBU to want an app like headspace but not cost £10 a month?!

I’ve had headspace for about a year now but have recently switched to audible for dropping off to sleep. Sometimes I do wake up and out on headspace but it’s becoming less and less.
Is there something similar, control your breathing, help to node back off, that’s free?
Thank you!

I've heard of Calm but not sure if it's free.

joeysapple · 11/09/2020 20:07

Headspace does have some free meditations which you still have access to after cancelling subscription, but they're limited in number.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 11/09/2020 20:08

Insight timer is fab. All free

Gobbycop · 11/09/2020 20:09

Calm is good, I think I paid £35 a year.

byvirtue · 11/09/2020 20:09

I agree insight timer is free and really varied.

curcurbita · 11/09/2020 20:11

I have buddhify on my phone which costs a few pounds initially but has a selection of meditations that you don't have to pay more for. I've also downloaded petit bambou which was free and I think you can access quite a bit without paying.

Insecond Insight Timer,

BigBadVoodooHat · 11/09/2020 20:13

Another vote for Insight Timer: thousands of meditations to choose from. I love it.

Aunty5ocial · 11/09/2020 20:13

I second

justawoman · 11/09/2020 20:13

Insight timer. It’s a mixed bag because it’s so huge, but I have some sleep meditations and some simple recordings of waves, rain etc that I use most nights to get me to sleep.

BabyLlamaZen · 11/09/2020 20:13

insight timer

blue25 · 11/09/2020 20:16

Calm is really good and there’s a 40% discount at the moment, so I paid £17 for the year. I use it loads.

DoubleHelix79 · 11/09/2020 20:18

Try Smiling Mind. It's been developed by an (Australian?) Charity and completely free.

MaryBerrysChutney · 11/09/2020 20:20

If you have an AmEx, calm is free for the first year and 50% the next year. Chat with them and they’ll activate if you’re eligible.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 11/09/2020 20:28

I fall asleep to crime podcasts 😂

Janus · 11/09/2020 20:50

Fantastic! I used to have Calm but I think I paid for that too but will look into if I can get it free but will also look at insight too as there’s so many mentions.
To be fair, I’ve even just googled ‘wave sounds’ and found I nod off to that! I either get back to sleep pretty easily or am up for hours!
Moly both my teenage daughters nod off to that too, I don’t how it’s relaxing but it seems to work for them too!!

Buddhify

Decent people that run it a proper training in meditation.

£10 a month for headspace is a SHOCKING rip off.
