How to react to colleague

How would you react if a completely harmless comment you made was reported back to your manager in a way that it was slightly changed from your initial comment. The manager then named this person and wrote an email telling me what this person had said and told me off for this, would you speak to your colleague as you are confused why they would say this to manager especially add arts you didn’t say? Or would you just learn from it and let it go?

what does your Sister suggest you do OP 🌺

@BlueThistles she suggests I leave it now as it will just get worse in her opinion. She thinks I should keep myself to myself and just get through the probation period then look elsewhere. She thinks it’s too risky to leave without a job now with Covid situation

Probs toon I think is 6 months. As it’s a new job they give probation then give you permanent contract.

tbh Im not sure you're going to reach 6 months OP, and if you do, they might extended your probationary contract. I'd be actively searching for another position now 🌺

Is someone I manage came to me and said someone else in the team was tired, I’d be like and? Maybe they should get an early night? It seems mad that she would email about this? She clearly has an agenda. Hope it’s sorted soon OP! It’s very stressful these types of things.

Probation is a red herring anyway. It usually just means you get a bit more notice if they sack you. It doesn’t give you any protection as you’ve few rights until 2 years.
