Mortified I called our kitchen fitters the chuckle brothers when they were in earshot

I am so mortified. Our kitchen fitters have just finished fitting our worktops and they were packing their van up. I was animatedly telling MIL how hilarious it was watching them get the worktop in the house (4 men wheeling it in on a trolley, trying to miss the ceiling etc) and said 'it was just like the chuckle brothers!' As I said chuckle brothers 2 of the men walked back into the kitchen, one stared at me the other just carried on and said "is everything OK?"

I wanted the ground to swallow me up.... Blush

and if they weren't careful getting the worktop into your house, you would still be on here posting about how superior you are to them

iklboo · 11/09/2020 18:10

Jesus Christ, where did the OP say she was superior to them?

Passtherioja · 11/09/2020 18:12

I'd have hoped they'd see the funny side!

Pogmella · 11/09/2020 18:14

Yes, yes, we all know you have fancy heavy solid worktops now, OP Wink

This depends on the tone in which you said it. If you were laughing with them ("to me, to you"), that's very different to laughing behind their backs (implication that they're a bunch of amateurs). How do you think they took it?

I think they took it badly. I meant it in the jokey 'to me to you' way. They did a good job! But it just reminded me of chuckle brothers with 4 of them all shuffling around.

Don't worry about it. In time it will be forgotten so just as well move on now.

Potterpotterpotter · 11/09/2020 22:25

Did you say sorry?

Ullupullu · 11/09/2020 22:27

But there are only 2 chuckle brothers... not 4? Wink

Chocchoc2020 · 11/09/2020 22:35

This made me laugh. It’s hardly offensive. We often sing the chucklevision theme tune when something’s not going quite right...

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 11/09/2020 22:48

It’s not really a mean comment is it? I thought EVERYONE who ever carries or lifts something holding an end each says to me to you and laughs about it.
