Need genuine perspective on this.
Had a new kitchen fitted, had issues left which we have been waiting for fitters to come back and fix. Holes in internal and external wall (just stuffed with plastic bag), 3 lots of trim to fit, undercounter lighting which the wires were left hanging out of the wall. They rounded off the screws to the extractor fan so had to get a replacement which then had to be fitted. Kickboard to fix as catching and worktop not secured. They said the splashback was faulty, fitted it anyway, and cut around the old light which meant the new light didn't fit. Splashbacks then had to be removed (taking chunks out the newly plastered walls) and refitted .

Anyway. We were prepared to pay for extra work today, but they wanted paying for fixing all the issues they should have done a month ago when the kitchen first went in. We disagreed, they stormed out. Should we have paid for the work that should have been done the first time

Had you already paid once for these areas and they wanted paying for rectifying it, or did you hold off on paying until they'd done them to a satisfactory standard?

No I paid them in full (in cash) for the work and thought they would be back to fix the issues

sorry, yes they wanted paying for today for fixing it. There were a couple of extra bits I was paying for, but not the issues we've waited a month to be fixed
