Self isolation from school means no clubs too

Two schools near me have been unfortunate enough to have a pupil who have tested positive for Covid. The schools have sent the classes or year group of these pupils home to self isolate for 2 weeks.

My DC do a hobby. I’ve heard that the club has said those pupils sent home to self isolate are ok to go to the hobby because they have no symptoms.

Full disclosure: I’m horrified at this because I feel it’s an unnecessary risk to those at the hobby. However I do wonder whether I’m overreacting as the pupils told to self isolate do not have symptoms. I’d be interested to hear others thoughts

YANBU: self isolation means stay at home, do not attend clubs.
YABU: there are circumstances where kids told to self isolate from school will be ok to attend their club

You'd think that said club would lose its 'covid secure' license or whatever it's called.
The outbreak around here has been caused by a kids football club (or rather the kids attending the football club).

Of course yanbu. Self isolate means stay at home and whoever runs the club is completely mad.

Nope, I'm with you.

Self-isolate due to exposure means 14 days in the house. No clubs, no school, no grandparents houses....

Self-isolation doesn't mean "isolate from school", it means isolate from everyone other than those in your household. Whoever is running this club is putting their profits before the health of the families who use their service.

Well I'm arguing with posters on another thread about similar. Apparently they should be sending in sick children to protect their self employed income. Doesn't matter if they have covid symptoms (it's a cold) because isolating every time to wait for a test is unfair and unnecessary.

So nothing surprises me anymore. I think people have given up. We will be back in lockdown and the club etc will be in a much worse state.

Self isolation means you stay at home and nobody goes out. Not even for shopping.
Whoever said that is nuts.
