AIBU not to scrub the house?

Hi,

We are relocating abroad in a couple of weeks and currently organising/sorting/packing/disposing of all our belongings. It’s a rental. We have redecorated throughout and re-turfed the garden as the dog went through a digging phase but as we are organising the house is an absolute mess. There’s piles of boxes, piles of stuff for the tip Such a taken apart furniture, keep piles, sell piles and donate piles. We haven’t bothered hoovering much as there’s so much mess everywhere and new carpets are being fitted the day we leave (obviously we will still hoover as part of our final cleaning)

The letting agents has advertised and put up to let signs and started phoning us to book in viewings. He has also phoned the landlord and asked him to phone us to ask if we can ‘make the house presentable before each viewing’ Specifically mentioning putting away everything we are working through organising, clean and hoover.

AIBU to refuse? I’m happy to hoover around bare bits of carpet and the house isn’t actually dirty, just full of stuff. But organising for a move abroad is stressful enough but keeping the house showroom ready might be breaking point!

Just do as much as you can.

You don't have to allow viewings at all as far as I l know.
If you're happy to allow them let your landlord know that you won't be able to tidy up for them

You are not obliged to allow any viewings at all and definitely do not have to prepare the house for viewings.

If it’s basically clean in terms of dishes being washed, clear bits of carpet hoovered, beds made and bathrooms basically presentable, then I think that’s enough- packing is a nightmare and you can’t half put that away and then bring it all out again- they’ll just have to accept there are boxes out!

One day you may need a reference from the ll..
Once absolutely blitzed dd's rental house. Much to her disgust!! She was accepted for a much nicer place after the ll's knew each other and she had a glowing reference..

@Itsrainingnotmen it will be absolutely spotless once we’ve gone, it’s just whilst we’re in the moving process it’s chaos 😂 the landlord is great about it, it’s the agent scaring him saying he’ll loose potential clients!

Make a big sign..
Moving in progress excuse the mess!!
