To think this wouldn't look professional?

Daughter aged 21 has been unemployed since April.
She told me today she handwrote some cards with her details saying she is available for household work such as cleaning etc.
Anyone else think this won't look professional and that she might meet some dodgy characters?

Can't you just support her & praise her initiative?

No reason to think she'll meet dodgy characters posting them through nearby houses I'm sure she'll swerve the crack dens.

I just think it doesn't look great and she should have had some printed out.
I also feel it's a little dangerous.

She could meet "dodgy" characters with a printed card too.

vanillandhoney · 10/09/2020 18:19

It's no more dangerous than being a cleaner with a printed card, though I agree it doesn't look very professional.

If you work alone in people's homes, you're always accepting a level of risk and that people might not be who they say they are.

I'd reckon she'd need some kind of insurance too, what if she damages something and has to pay for it?
HippyHappygal · 10/09/2020 21:52

The cards look awful.
I want to be supportive but this is not the way forward

Why don’t you offer to pay for vista print or the like under the guise of you get more and saves writing them out? Suggest getting her pvg/disclosure, encourage not criticise

JadesRollerDisco · 10/09/2020 22:00

Instead of criticising I would offer her an alternative. Could you offer to get her some made up? Or suggest using a local Facebook page or similar? Some places like cafes and community centres etc. Have a notice board for things like that. A lot of them are hand written

JadesRollerDisco · 10/09/2020 22:02

If she wants to do cleaning there are some online only/ distance learning courses for cleaners and covid 19 training, as well as agencies. There are ususally early/late morning vacancies, and a lot of places are employing extra cleaning staff cud do covid 19. She could subscribe to be emailed all local cleaning vacancies

WearyandBleary · 10/09/2020 22:04

Bless her! What’s she good at? It’s so awkward when dc are a bit clueless.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 10/09/2020 22:04

Bless her at least she's trying. Agree with PP maybe offer to pay for the printing.

Or try get in touch with an actual cleaning agency. If safety is a concern that would be better.

HippyHappygal · 10/09/2020 22:32

How much are printed cards if I offered to pay for them for her?

Google is your friend here op. It's simple enough to find vista print. Or solo press!

HippyHappygal · 11/09/2020 14:00

Thanks, I just ordered some for her.
