To ask if anyone has (very recent) experience of applying for Universal Credit - like last week or so?

...if so, what’s your experience and your advice? Posting here for traffic.

I applied start of this month (after completing a qualification) and was surprised to get a text message and journal entry saying I’d get a phone appointment today as I thought there was massive delays.

Was waiting by phone with all my paperwork and preparation showing my work search and it showed missed call but didn’t even ring - as if I’d been rung automatically but only for a second/or programmed to cut off immediately.

I’ve put a note in the online journal as I’m really desperate for money and I’m very worried about delays now. I understand I’m not meant to be calling them directly.

Is there anything else I can do? Thanks.

Is it worth getting on the phone now to see if I can get through or should I just wait for them to get back to me as I’ve left a journal note?

I think it's perfectly reasonable to call if you are at the start of the process but in my experience they are pretty good at responding to journal entries. I log EVERYTHING Grin.

@Doingtheboxerbeat

Thanks - I’ll see if they get back to me tomorrow and get myself a comfy chair and a book if I’m on hold !

Just worried that if there’s a glitch that means they’re not calling me right (I tested my phone to ensure there wasn’t a problem my end) it might reoccur and I won’t get my phone appointment done?

This is really weird - got another very brief missed call (not enough for ringtone to kick in?)

And another one - it’s like the call centre is set to ring then cut off immediately right now? Phone checked volume on maximum vibrate on. Might switch to landline see how that works Sad
