Do these new rules about 6 people meeting up extend to extra-curricular activities?

It says organised team activities aren't affected - does this extend to martial arts? Dance and gymnastics? Drama clubs? Art group?

There is another thread asking the same question. Basic consensus is that nobody knows.

champagnesupernovainthesky · 09/09/2020 12:08

Has it not been clarified anywhere in the news yet?

I'd suggest you bookmark this page and wait for the next update to be published: www.gov.uk/guidance/meeting-people-from-outside-your-household-from-4-july#history

My understanding is that if the sessions are run by a Covid safe approved organisation then they can continue. For example, baby classes that I attend are expecting to continue due to the guidelines they already had in place to prevent the spread.

No, guidance is not published yet.

@AlexaShutUp would you mind linking the thread.
I’m also following.
@Apples6544 what’s a ‘Covid safe approved organisation’?
I run a small group, I’ve done a risk assessment and had a number limit approved by the venue but I haven’t seen anywhere where I can get any sort of official approval.

So crap (the communication, I mean). Just had email about Scouts meeting in the park...am guessing that won't be going ahead now...

AlexaShutUp · 09/09/2020 13:08

Erin, I'll try to find it again and post a link.

FWIW, dd's drama group has said on social media that the new rules don't apply because they're an educational setting with covid measures in place, so I guess that might apply to lots of other activities too. Though the guidance may change all of that when it's published!

Apples6544 · 09/09/2020 13:09

@ErinBrockovich I’ve seen lots of groups with a ‘Covid secure’ endorsement- guessing from the council or something.

ErinBrockovich · 09/09/2020 14:26

Thank you both.
