Most people look better in clothes than naked

My whole life I've never been happy with my naked body, never ever thought it looks great, from my slimmest to my heaviest I've always found fault with it.loose skin, cellulite, bumps in places no exercise will shift. However fully clothed I like my appearance and wear clothes well(at least I think!) I'm currently at my slimmest after a long hard effort at weight loss and my body looks crap!I do like how it looks in clothes though.i look at people like Abby Clancy and Vouge Williams ,numerous kids later and they look smooth and fantastic in their bikinis, I'd never dare to bare!my friends say I have a great figure but I'd never let them see my legs or stomach.id like to love and embrace my body, its done alot but I cant help but feel dissatisfied and disappointed in it.i work out and eat pretty healthy most of the time.

YABU to think that celebrities look like they do in photos.

I prefer how I look naked TBH. Yes there’s some cellulite and I’m not perfectly smooth and even but it’s still my body and I’m happy with it.

Haworthia · 08/09/2020 09:45

The secret is to spend more time wearing clothes than being naked - win win!

I think I dress nicely as a general rule, but without clothes I’m a car crash.

Wallabyone · 08/09/2020 09:46

I think a bikini is my worst garment for highlighting the least favourite parts of my body. I have gained (and lost) four stone three times in pregnancy, and like you, I'm not sure my body looks great at my slimmest, but I do feel better in clothes. My tummy is a bit of a war zone either way! I prefer my face slimmer though!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 08/09/2020 09:46

Celebrities are photoshopped.

Most of them look just like us.

Camomila · 08/09/2020 09:47

I think celebrities have a lot more time and money to throw at their bodies than the average woman though, so of course they are more likely to look toned and smooth even after DC.

I've had 2 DC and still wear a bikini to go to the beach though. No one is looking at me, everyone is too busy keeping sand of their picnics/stopping their DC splashing each other etc.

workshy44 · 08/09/2020 09:48

I think most people look better than they think naked. I have a v "young" body but when I look around at the beach etc I think most people, even those whoa re heavier look nice.
I do not however see many people who look like a supermodel that you seem to see online, even when I go to v exclusive and expensive places. My body would generally be one of the better ones and I am mid 40's and kids later.

workhomesleeprepeat · 08/09/2020 09:50

Well it’s not like you have to go parading around naked down the street or in Tesco! I am very comfortable being naked at home with my partner, my body is my body, lumps bumps and all haha.

Maybe if I had to wear a bikini on the bus I’d feel different, but none of us have to do that, so what does it matter? I think you’re just used to seeing everyone clothed Grin

MatildaTheCat · 08/09/2020 09:51

After many, many years of using communal gym changing rooms I can confirm that the vast majority of people look better with some clothes on.

Itstruetoday · 08/09/2020 09:51

@Wallabyone me too with pregnancy seeming have wrecked my skin so it's never tightened up no matter how much exercise. I have a permanent pouch, mini flap despite being slim now.looks like a smiley face according to my son!🤪

YABU. Most people look better naked.

DidoAtTheLido · 08/09/2020 09:58

It depends on your philosophy and approach to life. Your self esteem, what you view as ‘normal’ or beautiful.

Look at paintings from previous centuries, bodily beauty that other cultures find attractive.

There is no norm or standard if beauty that is universal or objective.

Personally I find bodies glorious, functional, individual, funny, lovely, etc. Bodies are bodies.

If you feel unable to reveal parts of your body generally accepted as OK to be on show in our society, the issue is in your head.

However you are not alone, obviously, because due to all sorts of pressures we, particularly women, are made to feel that our bodies are not good enough.

This is a shame.

Dieting is one thing. Maybe look at lots of art, the work that an artist made of loads of vaginas, and read something like The Beauty Myth.

Be proud of your body for what it is: it supports the you that is you. Enjoy it, appreciate it and two fingers to what anyone else thinks.

(They won’t, by the way)

VesperLynne · 08/09/2020 09:58

I still look pretty good in just what my mother gave me. I've got a few scars , C-section and where I was stabbed but I'm pleased with my naked femeninity. I'd shag me !.

mynameiscalypso · 08/09/2020 10:00

I think women generally look better naked than men. There's nothing attractive about male genitalia particularly if it's not in the right context.

VesperLynne · 08/09/2020 10:00

femininity,

Itstruetoday · 08/09/2020 10:02

@VesperLynne I like it,I need some of your body positive power!

YABU to compare yourself with 'celebs' in any way. They are not real people.

chubbyhotchoc · 08/09/2020 10:10

I think you'd be surprised at what most people are hiding under their clothes. I've had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. I'm on lots of surgery Facebook groups and women post their before pics all the time. It is quite shocking when you compare their profile pics to their naked pics. Loose skin, spare tyres, odd shaped boobs... I think this is more normal than people imagine.

Bendybarbarabee · 08/09/2020 10:11

I think even the really stunning genetically and financially blessed look better semi-naked. Genitals are just not beautiful things Grin

WorraLiberty · 08/09/2020 10:17

Abby Clancy and Vogue Williams are models, so even without airbrushing etc they're always going to look stunning, as the upkeep comes with their careers.

But on the whole YANBU. I think most people look better with nice clothes on.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 08/09/2020 10:20

You’re missing one important thing a celebrity has -Someone skilled in using photoshop. If you look at paparazzi shots where the “candid” shot On the beach in the new bikini hasn’t been set up the star’s management And the tabloid it’s often hard to even recognise the person as being the same person, let alone as toned/smooth skinned (even after hours And a small fortune with a beauty therapist/personal trainer/nutritionist/plastic surgeon). I just concentrate on being the best I can be.

Look at some 1980smusic videos. Full of what we’re then considered really hot women. Hair with frizz, visible pores, thin women were flat chested, big boobed women had big thighs. Teeth didn’t blind you, noses hadn’t been broken and reset with odd looking nostrils. Lips hadn’t suffered some extreme reaction to a sting.

All these women were still considered beautiful.

Everyone looks better clothed, or at least with the benefit of soft lighting.

IcedPurple · 08/09/2020 10:23

i look at people like Abby Clancy and Vouge Williams ,numerous kids later and they look smooth and fantastic in their bikinis,

As someone said above, they are models so of course they're going to look better than your average woman. That's their job. Plus, you're only seeing what they want you to see. They probably take about 50 photos and spend ages choosing the most flattering ones to release as a 'Oh gosh here's little old me enjoying the sun and a camera just happened to be there' photograph.

But yes, almost everyone looks better with at least some clothes on. Unless you're Chris Hemsworth or Charlize Theron - and maybe even if you are - it's best to leave at least something to the imagination.

LunaNorth · 08/09/2020 10:24

That’s so true, @Lifeisgenerallyfun.

The times I say that when watching TOTP2. Women looked like human beings back then.

Something’s gone very wrong, somewhere.

chubbyhotchoc · 08/09/2020 10:24

@Lifeisgenerallyfun that's so true about eighties music vids. Nobody would be seen dead on a music video today with some of the teeth and boobs/ lack of them that you see on old videos.

Yankathebear · 08/09/2020 10:34

Until 6 months ago I was more than happy in a bikini. I’ve put on weight and I’m trying to learn to love my new body.

ErickBroch · 08/09/2020 10:38

I am an average size - healthy weight but toward the higher end - and I much prefer how I look naked! Clothes never fit me well
