Mum lied about our vaccinations

WhyDidSheLie · 07/09/2020 21:04

Got my medical history from my doctors today. I've not spoken to my mum for over 4 years because of her toxic behaviour and lies. I shouldn't even be surprised at today's information but I still am

Our entire lives my mum has been dead set against vaccinations. We have grown up with it drilled into us how dangerous they are, the awful side effects. Told us over and over we have never had any of our vaccinations and have always been fine

I've been frightened to death about vaccinating my own children. I mean frightened. Frightned To the point so far they have only had their MMR because I am frightened to death. They only had their vaccinations last year as I have slowly been coming to terms that their not dangerous like my mum said

Now to read in my records that I had vaccinations in 1992, 1993, 1993, 1994, 1994 & 1997. I was born in 1991

I know shes a liar and I shouldn't be surprised but I just csnt wrap my head around why she would lie about not vaccinating us and tell us all how awful they are well in reality she did vaccinate us

I dont even know what I want from this post

I honestly dont understand how her mind works

Well at least you had them done i spose. Guess it's further confirmation that you should have not much to do with her. Awful gaslighting behaviour on her part.

WingingItSince1973 · 07/09/2020 21:11

I found out last year when I had access to my records that I havent been vaccinated! I was born in 1973 though but there were still vaccinations. My mum said she couldn't bear the thought of upsetting me by having them done. I had all my teenage ones etc. Shes not against them just hates the thought of us in pain having them x

MomToTwoBabas · 07/09/2020 21:15

Atleast you had them op. Your mums obviously a bit..... you know.

WhyDidSheLie · 07/09/2020 21:18

malificent7 Yes, I suppose your right. I know the guilt isn't mine but I feel guilty my children have been walking around unvaccinated. I have done my own research and wanted to vaccinate them, hence the MMR, but I got scared again after that which is why they havnt had any others yet

The more time I've spent away from my mum the more I have realised how warped her behaviour and mind frame was.

I just dont understand why you would lie about it and scare your own children? Why?

Forget about whatever rubbish your mum has told you and get your children vaccinated.

Leaannb · 07/09/2020 21:21

It sounds like she read too many anti-vax crap on Facebook and ignorantly changed her mind

Regularsizedrudy · 07/09/2020 21:27

Don’t you remember the one in 1997 though?

Lou197 · 07/09/2020 22:12

Because she gets a kick out of manipulating you - look up narcissistic personality disorder, bet she ticks a few boxes.

Skysblue · 07/09/2020 22:56

Your mum is a bit mental OP. I’m sure someone else will have a more technical term for it, but basically she is nuts. Bat shit crazy. Etc.

That must have been incredibly hard I’m so sorry.

SquirtleSquad · 07/09/2020 23:04

@Regularsizedrudy why would she? I don't remember any of mine except for the cervical cancer one in secondary school.

SquirtleSquad · 07/09/2020 23:04

Sorry HPV not cervical cancer..

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 07/09/2020 23:18

The Andrew Wakefield saga was published 1998 so presumably she changed her mind then with the media frenzy that freaked loads of people out.

She still sounds a bit crazy though.

hnhvt · 07/09/2020 23:24

Now get your children vaccinated, and pronto, before they put my DD who CANT have hers at risk.

Girlzroolz · 07/09/2020 23:35

Could someone else have taken you in for your shots? If I found myself in an antivaxer family, I’d do it and how! The medical records show the dates, but not who took you in right?

Regularsizedrudy · 08/09/2020 00:26

@SquirtleSquad because she was 8? I remember mine from that age because it was at school and we got a jellybaby afterwards

Regularsizedrudy · 08/09/2020 00:26

Or 6? Sorry it’s midnight and I’m bad at maths.

hastingsmua1 · 08/09/2020 00:28

Look, if she’s an unreasonable person, her actions just can’t be justified. There’s no point even trying to make sense of it as it won’t add up.

The simple explanation is that she lied because admitting she vaccinated her children without any issues goes against her current anti vax rhetoric and she wanted to save face.
