I've been waiting 12 weeks for a neck ultrasound due to having multiple swollen lymph jodes in my neck. During this time I've had no other symptoms. However, now that I am worrying about the results of this ultrasound due to my mum having died of lymphoma, ive been getting pain in areas that contain lymph nodes, left sided rib pain and bone pain. Has anyone been for an ultrasound with multiple lymph bodes swollen and been ok?

I've had this. Arm pits and groin. I have no idea what it was but it all absolutely fine in the end. I was checked out a breast clinic (as arm pits and side of breast). I think i was run down with a few infections and viruses back to back. Hope you are OK. I understand your worry. My mum died of breast cancer so I felt similarly.

Sorry you’re feeling anxious OP. Most lumps are really nothing to worry about and chances are you’ll be absolutely fine. I’m always having them pop up in my armpit and groin - often painful, sometimes not, sometimes they disappear in a day or stick around for months!

Most recently I had a lump in my neck and had a month of jawbone pain on the same side for which my GP referred me under the 2 week wait and it just turned out to be an oddly prominent gland (funnily enough, the pain started dissipating the day I got reassured it was nothing!). I also have permanent hard lymph nodes under my jaw which feel big but which the sonographer confirmed were 2mm.

I’m not medically trained at all but would think pain is a good sign, surely, and also I have endless experience of stress/anxiety making pain, nausea etc. worse - your pain might well be down to that.
I’m sorry about your mum Flowers

@velourvoyageur when you had your ultrasound did you get the results there and then or did you have to wait for your doctor to read them first?

That time they did tell me straightaway, but I’ve also had an ultrasound before where they refused to say anything and that also turned out fine. So don’t read into it I’d say.

I had a pea shaped lump in my neck a few years ago. I had an ultrasound and they said it was really common and that it is fatty tissue in the gland and not to worry.

ConfusedBec · 08/09/2020 14:31

@drloo my issue is I have about five

You could perhaps call the hospital and see whether they could prioritise you for cancellations?

I had this last year. 2 delightful lumps, confirmed by ultrasound. I was told they were nothing sinister and had blood tests to check for any infection. Nothing.
They went away eventually.

Hi sorry I know this is a few years old but did you find out what it was?

RDH19 · 30/09/2025 14:34

hi, did you ever get to the bottom of this?
