My sister is getting married in November. (in the UK). All her preparations are going ahead as planned, everything is sorted, and paid for.
She has no worries whatsoever that it won't go ahead and she doesn't think there will be any restrictions at all.
I on the other hand, worry about everything and always think the worst and I cannot see how in just 8/9 weeks it will have changed that much from now.
Does anyone know if there are set to be any more government announcements between now and then?
She's got over 100 people coming, at the moment there can only be 30 with a sit down meal only. Aibu to think that she's burying her head in the sand bless her

Actually if she’s getting married in a hotel then she isn’t restricted to 30 people - there’s individual risk assessments per hotel.

@PlayingGrownUp not so, still restricted to www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-small-marriages-and-civil-partnerships/covid-19-guidance-for-wedding-and-civil-partnership-receptions-and-celebrations

No one knows when guidance will be changed OP, not even the government.

Yabu for the "bless her" alone 🤨 Because you dont bless her, you want to piss on her chips.

Maybe just say nothing, be nice and support your sister vs looking for rumours on the internet on announcements that bojo and pals havent even thought of yet?

I, too, think your sister is deluding herself. Fair enough forget to plan a November wedding but she will have to revise the number of wedding guests downwards so that there are no more than 30 present including 3rd party suppliers like a DJ and photographer.

I don't believe it likely that the Govt will revise the numbers allowed at gatherings upwards significantly by November (or, at all).

I'm pretty sure that whoever owns/runs the venue(s) where she will have her wedding and her reception, will have made her fully aware of this.

Anything could happen between now and then. I think you have to decide what you'd regret more, it being planned and cancelled or not planning and it not being cancelled.

Familyiseverything10 · 07/09/2020 09:07

@LadyFrumpington why would I want to piss on her chips? She is my sister who I love I want her to have the amazing day she had hoped for, and I think she should rearrange so that she gets that.
If it goes ahead with the restrictions she is going to be very upset and will not have the day that she wanted.
