Another heatwave coming...apparently.

I cannot cope with the idea of yet another mini heatwave we have due from tomorrow.
However I read this is in The Daily Mail so it may or may not be true...but the idea of more hot weather just makes me grumpy.
I live in a new build and it is like a sauna at the best of times. I feel like that sauna owner on Frozen.
AIBU for wanting some proper autumn weather to kick in? Nice crisp days, cold nights. Give me cold weather over heat any time. I think in a past life I was a snowman.

According to the BBC it's going to be 21C here tomorrow. So nice but hardly a heatwave. Where are you?

Yetiyoga · 07/09/2020 06:42

Yes, no heatwave for me tomorrow. I wish there was!

JalapenoDave · 07/09/2020 06:42

@CountFosco up North, near Leeds. As I said, I read it in the Daily Mail (or Daily Fail, as it is otherwise known). Although I didn't read the full article - I withered up like a dead flower at the word "heatwave"...

I've found, without fail, that if the BBC Weather App says 'Highs of 21' in my area, it's consistently 26.

How they can be so consistently wrong always amazes me.

narcdad45 · 07/09/2020 06:45

Due to be 23-24 tomorrow in the SE, I detest heatwaves but this weeks predicted weather is fine, anything above 28 is far too much for me. The week in August where for 6 days it was 35+ was unbearable.

cherrytree63 · 07/09/2020 06:48

I read that on the Grimsby Live page on Facebook, but my weather app is showing 19° as the highest this week.

tiredanddangerous · 07/09/2020 06:52

It's going to be 21 where I am apparently (midlands) so not exactly a heat wave!

Coffeecak3 · 07/09/2020 06:55

It's going to be sunny and 28c in sw France.

nosswith · 07/09/2020 07:18

Children go back to school, weather gets warmer, or at least sunnier. In a similar vein Christmas Day is often the least cold day in December, without any snow.

oakleaffy · 07/09/2020 07:20

It's the humidity that is so unbearable in English heatwaves.
Crisp dry heat, like in the South of France is so much more bearable.
Soggy English humidity is just horrid.

I like a nice, cool 21degs Centigrade.
For some reason American temps are different....An American friend said ''It's cold here today..36 degrees''

That is hotter than the sun!
Why oh why is Fahrenheit used?
Centigrade :freezing =0 degs
Boiling point of water at sea level 100 degs C

Makes it so easy!

KatherineJaneway · 07/09/2020 07:20

Met office says it will be 21 here. Don't blame you about the heatwave though, I dislike the 30 + temperatures and hide indoors on those days.

oakleaffy · 07/09/2020 07:22

Tomorrow is a 'High' of 19C tomorrow...not a heatwave, luckily. Today is 12C {South West}

slipperywhensparticus · 07/09/2020 07:34

The daily fail regularly predict snowmaggeddon and Sahara like heat waves ive stopped believing them

Pacif1cDogwood · 07/09/2020 07:38

19 degrees C forecast here for tomorrow - SW Scotland.

I am from Germany where temperatures in the summer regularly hit weeks and weeks of 35 degrees and it is quite impressive how much the way houses are built makes them more or less suitable for extremes of temperature. Stonebuilt, well insulated houses in which you keep windows and door SHUT during the heat (maybe airing the house at night IF the temperature drops) are so much more comfortable than timber framed, gyp-rocked new builds Hmm

I always say this about C vs F, how can anyone even judge using F? fridges and washing machines are in C!
sanityisamyth · 07/09/2020 07:54

Cardiff forecast tomorrow is grey clouds and 18 degrees. Where is the nearest heatwave? Happy to relocate!!

Sheknowsaboutme · 07/09/2020 07:56

Yes of course. For the south east.

South east is not the whole of the UK

Standrewsschool · 07/09/2020 08:02

We’ve got 23 tomorrow and Wednesday.

It’s the classic go—back-to school heatwave.

HesterShaw1 · 07/09/2020 08:06

Proper autumn weather in this country involves relentless gales, rain and mud.
YAB completely U!

A lot of MNers seem to have some New England idea of autumn rather than actual England/Britain autumn.

SoupDragon · 07/09/2020 08:10

Please let there be a heatwave! This weather is utterly miserable and it's only the start of September. I'm not sure I can last til June.

SoupDragon · 07/09/2020 08:11

Proper autumn weather in this country involves relentless gales, rain and mud.

Don't be silly, it involves crisp sunny days, cosy blankets and hot chocolate. Apparently.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 07/09/2020 08:26

No heatwave here (eastern part of the south west) with a maximum of 20 all week and mostly cloudy. We won't have a heatwave here ever again as I've jinxed it by recently buying a room fan Wink

@SoupDragon despite the mountain of sarcasm in your post, I literally live for that one day a year that we actually get glorious Autumn weather. Smile

@HesterShaw1 you're completely right. My post was really just me moaning about hot weather.
