I would say currently it's Geoff from Corrie.

OP posts:

Thomas the tank engine

Any character played by Justin Fletcher. So much waste of food. Hmm

Oh and PC Plum in Balamory.

I'm glad my DDs have grown out of watching CBeebies.

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 09:18

Carly in The Inbetweeners.Haaaaate her
Oh you've just reminded me that actress also played Rebecca in Emmerdale who I hate with a passion!

TheFormidableMrsC · 07/09/2020 09:28

Norman Price in Fireman Sam. Such a little shit.

Jackie Laverty - the Gina McKee character that ended up in the freezer for a few years in Line of Duty.
Her whispery, not-seductive voice...

Opie (SOA) we were in shock.
and John from peaky blinders.

RiftGibbon · 07/09/2020 09:42

Also, Michael Crawford's character in "Some mothers do 'ave 'em." How he managed to get anyone to marry him and have his child....

Mittens030869 · 07/09/2020 09:56

Oh yes, and Topsy and Tim, and that irritating mum of theirs. How dare she always be so unruffled!? Grin

AriesTheRam · 07/09/2020 10:09

@JaneJeffer I thought it was just that character! You mean she plays every part like that? Annoying woman

Roomba · 07/09/2020 10:14

Brianna Randall Fraser Mackenzie

God, yes. I have loved watching all of Outlander during lockdown, it's my guilty pleasure as so unlike anything else I watch. But christ Brianna - and bloody dippy Roger - are so annoying!

mrsBtheparker · 07/09/2020 10:16

Can’t stand Mr Willoughby in s and S

Any Mr W in Jane Austen is a bad'un, Wickham and another W whose name escapes me.

Shutupyoutart · 07/09/2020 10:20

Has anyone said piper from oitnb? Shes awful. Literally every other character in the show is more imteresting then her. I agree with bing, mr tumble (tho my kids loved him) horrid Henry, peppa pig. Also spongebob from spongebob square pants, can totally empathise with squidward lol. Also what's wrong with hagrid?! And dobby! I agree about ginny though. Esp movie version.

mrsBtheparker · 07/09/2020 10:20

Taggie's mother, something O'Hara, in the Rutshire chronicles, how her lovely husband tolerated her selfish ways was beyond me.

Batshitbeautycosmeticsltd · 07/09/2020 10:23

Scarlett O'Hara. Totally unbelievable, too.

mrsBtheparker · 07/09/2020 10:26

Carrie Mathieson in Homeland, although part of my dislike is the fact that with her medical history she would never have been allowed to do what she did so it's probably the fault of the script writers.

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 10:27

Aires Rebecca was even worse than Carly! I feel angry just thinking about her.

mrsBtheparker · 07/09/2020 10:31

I can’t think of any young female characters in Dickens who are anything other than soppy, useless, simpering, dripfests quite frankly. I don’t think Dickens actually liked real women all that much

I certainly like Estelle in GE but as with many of the posts here the characters from one period are being judged by the mores of today.

I wonder if we could do the reverse, judge today's people by the standards of another period, what they would make of them, Dickens on the Love Island people for example!

unmarkedbythat · 07/09/2020 10:42

Franklin Plaskett
Dawn Summers (actually my recent Buffy rewatch also has me disliking Xander Harris a lot too, and I always hated Riley Finn)
Darrell Rivers
Everybody in every book Thomas Hardy ever wrote

CatAnnoyance · 07/09/2020 10:43

Reading this thread and thought a few of you hated Chandler Bing that much that you couldn't face saying his full name but then realised Bing is a cartoon character Blush

Phew!

Carry on.

hollyandkit · 07/09/2020 10:49

@Doubledeckers

Owen Meany
HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE OWEN MEANY? Wink

Riker from the next generation

Nearly dies so many times and never fails to disappoint by pulling through against the odds

theproudgeek · 07/09/2020 11:22

@Noconceptofnormaloconc Regarding Ross and Rachel, I certainly wanted her to stay on the plane. If they had to be together why couldn't he follow her? I was also a lot more interested in Monica and Chandler, as that felt like a more healthy and real relationship.

DarkMintChocolate · 07/09/2020 11:22

but as with many of the posts here the characters from one period are being judged by the mores of today.

I studied Classics and our lecturers used to say Old Greek Comedies were very similar to Coronation St, etc because people are still essentially the same - but I do not find Dickens’ characters to be like real people.
I love the books by the Brontes, Jane Austen, and George Eliot, whose books are are closer chronologically to Dickens than today!
