Matthew - Downton Abbey

Matilda400 · 06/09/2020 22:44

And pretty much all the Buffy characters that died. (Apart from Tara, annoying spud)

jakeyboy1 · 06/09/2020 22:44

And Quinn of course how could
I forget!

Krook · 06/09/2020 22:45

Danny Kendal in Grange Hill
And the other boy who drowned in a Grange Hill swimming lesson.

My 12 year old self was shocked to the core.

flirtygirl · 06/09/2020 22:45

Derek Shepherd left a hole. Lexi and Mark.
Otis recently in Chicago Fire.
Poussie Washington.
Finn in Glee.
Buffy as thought the show was ending too. Buffy's mum.
Rue in hunger games.

Every death from the 100, especially the season where they ate each other after death. That season really upset me. The fights and deaths.

I got used to the Got deaths, no one was safe, but the dragon dying and then becoming a white walker was very upsetting.

transformandriseup · 06/09/2020 22:47

Loads as I get so emotional about fictional characters.

Mathew and Sybil Crawley's deaths are always hard to watch.

Also I'm re-watching Torchwood on sky and I know Ianto's death is coming up 😭

GwendolineMarysLaces · 06/09/2020 22:51

Also Meg in Home and Away circa 1992

SeaEagleFeather · 06/09/2020 22:54

Oh yes, ones I'd forgotten

Gelert from Beddgelert
Artax, that's awful.
Bridge to Terebithia
Adric too!
the little Match Girl - god that's awful

Don't dare watch Grave of the Fireflies

hartof · 06/09/2020 22:56

@jakeyboy1

There's a Mike Gayle Book Life & Soul of the Party where a character you haven't even met dies in the first chapter and you really feel the pain of it it's awful!

Aside from that -

Brody in Homeland
DCI Gates in Line of Duty
Rachel in Cold Feet

Mike Gayle is fantastic at making you feel like that I love his books. Half the world away had me sobbing at Christmas
RaymondReddingtonMrs · 06/09/2020 23:01

Keith (one tree hill)
Mike Delfino (desperate housewives)
Brody and Quinn (homeland)
Agree with mark, lexi and George from greys

LionessRoar · 06/09/2020 23:08

Marley’s death broke me. Will never watch that film again and even just thinking about it makes me cry
Ginger from Sleeping Beauty
Mum from how I met your mother... all that time following his journey to discover that his wife died and left him a widow. I really wanted them to live happily into old age
Bit of a weird one as it was so cheesily done, but Jack Duckworth in Coronation Street... when he saw Vera’s ghost. I grew up with the Duckworths from a child and i cried like a baby
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, when the dinosaurs get left behind on the island.

Bellabelles · 06/09/2020 23:10

Thomas J - My Girl Sad

Dee1975 · 06/09/2020 23:11

Goose .....

Seen the film over 100 times and I still cry ..

RaymondReddingtonMrs · 06/09/2020 23:12

Forgot to add
Alison (the affair)
Matthew (Downton)
Carl, Glenn and Abraham (twd)

cheeseycharlie · 06/09/2020 23:13

Carlo guercio, captain corelli's mandolin.
Both when he died, and again when the earthquake opened the earth up only to swallow him again

JulesCobb · 06/09/2020 23:20

The scene when the doctors in ER and greg pratt realise how injured he is, is burned on my memory. 12 years!

emala · 06/09/2020 23:20

Little Father Time in 'Jude the Obscure' 😭 and Derek Shepherd obvs !!

BonosSigh · 06/09/2020 23:26

Goose in Top Gun
Mark Greene in ER (Mark Edwards, what are you doing to me?!)
Sybil in Downton Abbey

But the one that has always stayed with me is Ryan Chappelle from 24. He was a hugely unappealing character, in charge of Jack Bauer for a bit and a bit of a bastard. But he slowly becomes more likeable and then he is forced by terrorists to be escorted by Jack to a place and to commit suicide for the good of a wider counter terrorist play. It is utterly horrifying. The whole way to this designated death point you can see that he is totally terrified and thinking that Jack will get him out of it. When they arrive he's shaking and so so scared and you are left thinking that Jack will somehow save him. He doesn't.

I was convinced in later 24 series that Ryan Chappelle would make a reappearance and that his death was a trick. Sad

Ginger1982 · 06/09/2020 23:27

Waking the Dead when Mel gets pushed off the roof and landed on Boyd's car ☹️

Ginger1982 · 06/09/2020 23:29

Oh and Bobby from Home & Away. I must have been about 11 and it was my first real experience of death (even if it was fictional!)

Hatethewordhun · 06/09/2020 23:30

@XenakisCarter

Matthew in Anne of Green Gables
This 😭
LionessRoar · 06/09/2020 23:31

Reading this thread there are so many that I had forgotten/ blocked out. Agree with most of them. Not a death but The Fox and the Hound had me in floods of tears... the whole thing but especially when the lady drove away leaving the poor fox behind. I was still a mess when my husband came home an hour later. He was worried something awful had happened so I explained to him. I retold the story whilst sobbing like a child... that full on can hardly talk sort of cry! My sister mentioned a few weeks later that she might watch it and I told her not to and started crying again as I told her why it was so sad

NoProblem123 · 06/09/2020 23:35

Rog in TrapDoor

Henry in The Time Travellers Wife

allformykids · 06/09/2020 23:35
