Kitty Sutton in the Rowangarth series of books.

GhostCurry · 06/09/2020 14:24

Misery Chastain. If I ever get hold of Paul Sheldon I’ll make him pay for letting her die.

Whalewhale · 06/09/2020 14:25

The Boyfriend in Years & Years. The one that took the Boat and washed up on the Beach, breaks my heart everytime I think about it 💔

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 06/09/2020 14:26

Ginger in Black Beauty.

Boxer in Animal Farm.

Ripley in Luther.

Oysterbabe · 06/09/2020 14:26

The nightingale in The Nightingale and the Rose.

God yes. I have childhood trauma from reading that too.

geekone · 06/09/2020 14:27

@FrogsSpawnofSanta

Granny Weatherwax. I couldn't finish the book because the Discworld without Granny Weatherwax in it is just too sad.
I did not know this I have not gotten far enough yet poor granny weatherwax Sad
Tryingandfailing · 06/09/2020 14:28

Quinn in Homeland ... the poisoning onwards is really hard to watch with him.
Brody in Homeland, the death scene was so brutal.
Poussey OITNB. It's just heartbreaking, she was like a fragile bird in the that she died in.

All of them were pretty haunting and I can't rewatch any of those scenes.

Jane and Hank in Breaking Bad both got me.

pickingdaisies · 06/09/2020 14:34

Omg Ryan Ethicalbluey, I'm still mopping up the snot! Loved the Heights.
And whoever said Ianto from Torchwood, that was the beginning of the end for me. Never forgiven the sods.

CrazyToast · 06/09/2020 14:35

Justin Quayle in The Constant Gardener (book only). When he is being killed and he feels close to his murdered wife who died in the same way. Getting choked up just typing it!

Artax the horse in Never Ending Story. Holy crap!

The death of Littlefoot's mum in Land Before Time and then the special leaf she gives him gets destroyed!!!

Oysterbabe · 06/09/2020 14:36

I'm trying to remember the end of the Nightingale story. So she died so that the rose could bloom and a guy could give it to a woman and try and impress her but she didn't give a shit and went off with someone who gave her jewellery. Is that right?

Spirael · 06/09/2020 14:36

Aeris/Aerith from Final Fantasy 7. Her death was hard enough to cope with in the original - if she dies in the remake (which is not necessarily a given) I'll be a wreck.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 06/09/2020 14:36

Jacob Flanders, Jacob’s Room
Rebecca de Winter (yes really!)
Roger, Northern Lights
Tosh, Not So Quiet
Gage, Pet Sematary
Boxer, Animal Farm
Amy Camm, Devices and Desires
Guido, Life is Beautiful
Maybelle, The Broken Circle Breakdown
The little match girl

CrazyToast · 06/09/2020 14:36

We didn't actually see him die but Mac in Green Wing. Caroline loved him for so long and when she finally got him he had terminal cancer. Their time was so short. Sob.

EggyPegg · 06/09/2020 14:37

Artex the horse
Dale from TWD. To be honest, I never forgave Carl for that, so was fairly keen for him to be eaten from then on.
Hershel was brutal.
Glenn and Abraham.

Fred Weasley (no need!) Lupin/Tonks (make yet another baby orphan).

Lucy in ER was so harsh. We've been recording ER and she popped up.on one of the recorded icons. DH and I said 'oh, poor Lucy' in unison.

Joe from Medium. I couldn't talk about it for weeks afterwards.

Mrsfrumble · 06/09/2020 14:37

Oh my gosh, how could I forget Quinn in Homeland? He was such a fighter.

@PhilODox you’re right, Miller’s death was beautiful and epic, but it still made me sad. Ashford went out like the badass he was, and I take comfort from speculating on what Drummond will do to Marco when she finds out (disclaimer; I’m not reading the books).

foxychox · 06/09/2020 14:40

Nanna from the Royle Family in the Queen of Sheba episode. A beautiful description of the final days with a loved family member.....

DoreenWinkings · 06/09/2020 14:40

Granny Weatherwax

Brot64 · 06/09/2020 14:41

Oh one more old one. In the God Father not sure which part but when Michael was in Italy and his young wife died in the car explosion.

dannydyerismydad · 06/09/2020 14:42

Aunt Agatha in Poldark.

TheFallenMadonna · 06/09/2020 14:42

Quinn in Homeland was almost a relief, poor bloke.
