Perfect bath

Credenhill22 · 05/09/2020 19:20

Does anyone know how to run the perfect bath? I either put far too much hot water in and spend 10 minutes trying to sit down in it , or too much cold and need to to top it up.
Does anyone make all those silly sounds as you ease yourself in and try to sit down? My bath is always wasted before I get in.

I use DSs bath thermometer, turns out 41 is my ideal temperature , keep a check on it as it runs increase the hot etc, gets to a point where you know how fast the hot and cold taps need to be to get the perfect bath

The perfect bath is one where there are no kids crying in the background, no rush to get out and get house sorted and a nice warm bed to get into.

But in terms of running it, I like mine super hot and I prefer bath oils over bubbles. I’d like to invest in A nice bath pillow as I hate the back of my hair getting wet!

Very hot, very deep and with something fab to read.

And that'll be me for hours Grin

Oh I love a bath! Haven't had one in bloody ages as dc1's bedroom has a door to the bathroom and I only like having one when they're all asleep!

I tend to get in when it's not got much water in it and then I fiddle with the taps as it fills up.

I also love bath oils. Any recommendations @2020iscancelled?

BigBlondeBimbo · 05/09/2020 19:40

YY to a book at bath time! I've read some great books recently. Best thing about lockdown!

20viona · 05/09/2020 19:41

I use my daughters bath thermometer and I like it around 38.5. Nice and deep with lots of bubbles. I had one earlier but now you've made me Want another!

Dahlietta · 05/09/2020 19:47

I run it at a temperature I suspect will be ever so slightly too cold and then get in when it's nowhere near full so I can adjust the temperature. It I have got it right, it's pleasant enough, but the hot water running in by my feet is really good! Grin

LoeliaPonsonby · 05/09/2020 19:52

Get in the bath and then start filling it. You can get much hotter, in the fashion of boiling a frogGrin

TrippinFlippin · 05/09/2020 19:55

Hot tap only Grin if you don't feel like you're going to faint after a bath what was the point.

starsparkle08 · 05/09/2020 19:58

This made me think of the Michael McIntyre sketch ( in happy and glorious ) so funny 😂

hoxt · 05/09/2020 20:13

@BigBlondeBimbo I have done extensive bath oil testing 😬. Olverum is the best by a long way. Really strongly scented & highly concentrated. Makes the whole house smell amazing. I also like Aromatherapy Associates ones, & the REN Otto Rose is worth it if you like roses

Abitlikeabiscuit · 05/09/2020 20:49

Baby bath thermometer and find your sweet spot temp. I can't believe people can stand 41 degrees, I feel like I'm being boiled at 39! 36-37 is my ideal.

emwithme · 05/09/2020 20:56

If DD's bath thermometer isn't literally screaming at me, then it's not hot enough. I LOVE a monkey-hot bath. And like a PP says, run it at a temp you can get in at, then run the hot tap until you can't take any more. It'll be far hotter than if you had to step into it.

DieSchottin93 · 05/09/2020 21:05

I put in copious amounts of bubble bath and then run the hot tap until 8ts reached the end of the bath then turn on the cold tap and let it run for a minute or so then I get in and it's easier to adjust it from there Grin Grin

peakygal · 05/09/2020 21:07

A bath isnt a bath until you're bordering on severely burning your skin 😂 I love really hot baths

VirginiaWolverine · 05/09/2020 21:11

I get in when there's not much water and and then I can adjust the temperature to perfection. And I like Olverum bath oil the best.

My dad uses a meat thermometer probe thing to get the temperature right.

BigBlondeBimbo · 05/09/2020 21:16

Oh thank you for the bath oil recommendations! Olverum seems to be a winner!

Okayokayok · 05/09/2020 21:22

Is that you Chandler?

Happymama24 · 05/09/2020 21:24

My perfect bath is when my husband runs it and all I have to do is get in it... He goes all out candles the lot

Never even Thought about a thermometer.
Does anyone ever just get into a bath a not make any daft noises as it's too hot or is it just me🙄

Sorry, no, I don't do this! Maybe add some cold before you get in and then top up with hot?
Toothsil · 05/09/2020 22:31

Do you have separate taps or a mixer tap? We have a mixer tap and I put both on, the hot full and the cold a bit over half way, until I feel that the water coming out of the taps is the temperature I'd want my bath to be, and add lots of bubble bath as soon as the taps are on. Perfect every time.

EnidMatilda · 05/09/2020 22:36

yes get a baby bath thermometer. It's great and takes all the stress away from finding the right temp. Babies need 36-37 degrees and in my opinion, that's a cold bath. I love 41 - 42 degrees. Not allowed in pregnancy so really making the most of it now. Glass of wine with the great book is also a must.
