Covid test registration wtf

Tinyleaf · 05/09/2020 15:10

Have finally managed to get a Coronavirus test done and have bee given a scrappy, badly photocopied sheet of paper saying I need register the barcode within 24 hours and fill in the form or no result. Fair enough, EXCEPT the link given doesn't go to a form online just a general info page 9n how to get a test and there's nothing coming up from a search either. I've been on hold now to the number given for over 2 and a half hours so if anyone has any idea what to do please share! Oh, and shamelessly posting for traffic, sorry

gov.uk/register-home-test was what we used. Just waiting on results.

Tinyleaf · 05/09/2020 16:20

Thanks, when I tried that it just sent me to the general page and I couldn't see any where that linked to a registration form though?

Ignore me. Sorry, hope you find an answer.

You can ring 119 and tell them you need to register the test manually and they'll do it for you over the phone. I asked about this when I was chasing up my test results which were late.

NoraEphronsneck · 05/09/2020 16:25

We had the same problem. It didn't work when we typed the address in but did when we clicked link directly from the email.

If you want to dm me your email address I'll forward our link onto you if it will help.

How long did your results take? We posted ours on Tuesday and nothing back as yet.
Shinyletsbebadguys · 05/09/2020 16:27

Annoying isn't it , we did a walk in on Wednesday and they are supposed to register from the booking details according to the site. They didnt so I had to get it registered on 119.

KitchenConfidential · 05/09/2020 16:29

Lol at least you got told you needed to register! In the kit they sent me a few weeks ago there was not a word about that rather vital step! I was not impressed.

Augustbreeze · 05/09/2020 16:29

Is that what you get if you haven't pre-booked?

lifesalongsong · 05/09/2020 16:29

gov.uk/register-home-test

Have you enabled cookies, sometimes you need to do that to be able to see the start now box at the bottom, it works for me

ChipsCheeseAndBeans · 05/09/2020 16:30

@NoraEphronsneck still waiting on our results from Tuesday too. Fully expecting them to be negative but keen to know for sure, do that I don’t feel like a prisoner in my own home just because my child has a cough.

TheOrchidKiller · 05/09/2020 16:35

www.test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk

Should take you to the page to register a test.

You need to type it in exactly right, including the www. bit.

(Use this weekly myself for routine tests, if you don't put it in exactly right you end up on all sorts of similar but wrong pages).

Yes we're pretty sure it will be negative too - DC with sore throat and cough... rest of us all fine but took the test anyway.

Tinyleaf · 05/09/2020 17:02

Thank you all ,it's not a home test it was done pre booked at a pop up drive through centre. Bit symbolic all round and the info sheet looks badly cut and pasted. In the end after nearly 3 hours on hold to 119 they registered for me but couldn't tell me where to find the online which was comforting. Not.

I did a home test just over a week ago and could not use the form online to register it so I rang and the person who answered the phone told me she had registered for me but after waiting for 36 hours (my dd's test came back after 24 hours) I rang to be told to ring the next day. The following morning I rang again to find the that the first person I spoke to did not actually register me so second time lucky it went through. I had an email and a text with the result in 5 minutes.

I would suggest if you have heard nothing to try ringing to check that the test has been registered correctly.

NoraEphronsneck · 07/09/2020 16:44

Just to update, we received one result on Saturday, one on Sunday and one this morning - all negative thankfully.
